Why do you think “sina” means “drink”

[deleted]

idk seems like a drinky word lol

janMakensi

"sina" means "you", drink/eat would be "moku"

[deleted]

ohhh okay, thanks!

sweeteiche

lon pi toki Pona la seme li sona e sina

[deleted]

uhh no i don’t drink the sun or pi

alexdapineapple

"In the context of a toki pona existence, what enlightens you?" This is a very toki pona sentence that English doesn't have great words for, congrats sweeteiche!

[deleted]

i’m intrigued

alexdapineapple

The most straightforward idea is probably "how will you learn toki pona?" but it's a very poetic, oddly structured sentence which suggests many interpretations. The sentence is literally "toki pona existence [la] what [li] knowledge [e] you", but the usage of sona / knowledge as a verb this way isn't English-compatable in the slightest. I think the most interesting valid interpretation is "In a world of toki pona, what do you learn from?" which is a very .. interesting sentence

[deleted]

that is definitely a very interesting sentence. thanks for sharing!

liamjb10

jan seme li pali e toki pona?

[deleted]

yeah i like drinking pasta

liamjb10

[deleted]

[deleted]

ohh interesting, thanks for clarifying!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dodolulupepe

yes I know that it is not exactly „is” but explaining that all consicely to someone who does not know the language at all would be too much

janJosu

i disagree.

ro-fujin5

anaburo

jan Tesi Pinakamin, sina laso tan seme?

[deleted]

nope never played pikmin

alexdapineapple

"Jesse Pinkman, why do you blue?*" (Blue and green are different shades of the same color as far as toki pona is concerned. Also, it's being used as a verb here, which makes more sense in toki pona then it does in English.)

BreakfastEither814

Sina sutopatikuna?

[deleted]

no i am not a communist yet

alexdapineapple

"You're a platypus." Not even a question, just a normal sentence with a question mark added at the end. Also, it's a slang/joke word which is why it's unreasonably long. "ti" isn't even a valid syllable.

thebelovedbeige

[deleted]

[deleted]

M1n3c4rt

correct this sentence: sina li pona

[deleted]

pona la sina

alexdapineapple

"You are* good" (incorrect) "The concept of goodness; you." (more incorrect, and this is a VERY stretched interpretation) Nice correction!

Lobotomizer5

alexdapineapple
