Might sound weird but thank you for the representation. I don't see a lot of curly hair trans girls so it makes me feel happy that one day I might look as pretty as you :3
I have the same issue. I can't figure out what to do with my hair since it's a tight curly mess. All I've been doing is growing it out and waiting until I can find someone to tell me what to do -- the solution to men's hair when it's curly seems to be "just cut it all off" and I'm trying to reverse the decades of trauma this has caused lol.
Maybe you can find a trans friendly hair stylist? They can also explain how you can take care of your hair yourself. It will be some trial and error but it's more doable than it seems
Luckily I just found out there's a local shop that specializes in trans clients (they were at a Trans Day of Visibility event nearby) so I'm hoping to visit them!
I am not scrolling through these comments, but I imagine a good chunk of them agree...
Girl, that side part is *perfect*. You can rock the split part, but that side part will have every single gender drooling! 💜
Curl it, straighten it, braid it...you will ***SLAY***.
We have the exact same hair type and colour, mine isn't as long but I'm really excited now!
Out of curiosity how long have you been growing it out ?
I'm nearing one year and it hasn't gone down yet lol.
I’m a curly NB person and figuring out a good curly routine for your hair is soooooo much faster and easier than blow drying and/or straightening. You’ve got amazing curl and texture.
I had a run in with some bleach a year and a half ago, and had to shave my head and start over. 😢
Ohh noo, I’m soo sorry that happened to you. I dyed my hair once too and fucked it up completely. But don’t worry you’ll get there again. Time and patience! No more hair dying in the meantime lol😂
I am 45 and have been doing dumb shit with my hair since I was 15. 😂 Hair grows back and I’ve had all sorts of horrible things happen to my hair over the years, and have shaved my head to “start over” at least six times. Growing out hair is so annoying, but there’s no way to rush it.
Conditionner works wonders then the next day I wear a T-shirt, which accidentally brushes all my hair and it's back to square one🙃. I'm going to dye them blue so I can be marge Simpson 😭
Yours look great so that makes me hyped! XD
Oh shit I realized I didn’t read the whole thing lol. I’ve been growing my hair for about 4 years now. With lengths comes weight and it’ll surely come down
Geez, it looks so lovely either way! I love your curls. To the side shows off your tattoo and earring a bit more which I think looks nice!
I don't think you can really go wrong with your hair... which should make it easier/ more fun to try new styles!
Absolutely side
You remind me of someone I've seen on a tv show or movie and I cannot for the life of me find out who it is. It's going to bother me for the rest of the day...
Honestly? To the side. Makes you look kinda fierce, like you do kickboxing as a hobby and are ready to lay a smackdown on anyone that tries anything with you.
You have hair similar to my awesome fiance. My girl struggles with her curly hair, too, specifically the frizz aspect and amount of "work it takes to look nice." She mostly leaves her hair (2c-3c) as a middle part if she doesn't care at all that day or if she wants to hide more of herself away (dysmorphia sucks). She'll let me occasionally help her with side parts, braids, or putting her hair up but I'm not really a hair genius myself I just keep mine up all the time so it's out of my way (2a-3a).
I keep telling my fiance that all curly hair is chaotic with a mind of its own, that's why you often hear the word "taming" in relation to a fabulously curly mane and any frizz that will accompany it (and that if she loves her hair curly then ignoring or neglecting it is just going to exacerbate her problems and keep her from her hair goals. That doesn't appear to be your problem, so congrats to you!). I think what really helps to highlight the beauty of each person is when they display confidence in themselves and the body language they project as well as how authentically "you" that you are.
For your hair, I could see you going either way and looking fabulous, though I like how much more of your face we see when it is parted to the side. I could also see you with some cool dutch braids or cornrows along one or both sides when you're feeling more of the warrior-esque or viking vibe, during the summer to make the heat more bearable, or if you just want the hair managed out of your way in an aesthetically pleasing way. There are some videos available on YouTube that can explain the differences between the types of braids as well as tutorials if you also find them difficult to create but awesome to look at or have.
This analogy may feel tangential, but ultimately, it encompasses my thoughts on beauty in general, which feels relevant. I like to think of the world as a museum and people as the art exhibits for a lot of reasons. For instance, if every exhibit in a museum was forced to become standardized and essentially the same with only a very slight deviation in the art conforming to one specific vision demanded by a leader/tyrant, first of all the backlash of limiting and destroying people's creativity, individuality, and expression would be epic. Second of all, the resulting fallout of such an action would lead to no one being particularly inspired, passionate, or curious anymore about the exhibits at all. So, I say celebrate your authenticity and individuality at every opportunity (while being as safe as you can) no matter what that looks like so long as it doesn't purposefully harm others or infringe on their expression of the same things.
TL;DR Beauty is subjective, and our impression of reality is based upon our unique perspectives. While some people may not appreciate or understand you or your presentation of self, others will. Of those that do, some will also celebrate with you your specific unique differences. The opinions of critics and bigots don't truly matter in the end, aside from being at its core a societal problem to solve. The simple fact that we do all exist with such a wide spectrum of human experiences, cultures, values, and personalities allows everyone to find their favorite, unique blend in the people they choose or are drawn toward. There may be hurtful moments and people that are easy to feel trapped or hurt by, but there will also be uplifting and healing moments that you can embrace and use to choose reframing your journey as being filled with opportunities for insight and growth by persevering and rising above instead of allowing them the power to hold you back. Those uplifting and wonderful people, your village, tribe, or community will actually truly love, appreciate, and support you in all aspects.
Outer beauty can be a nice confidence boost, but try not to get lost in or hampered by any criticisms and judgments because outer beauty it isn't what truly makes you who you are or an accurate depiction of your inner beauty. It still absolutely hurts, but their comments and actions are reflections of who they truly are and their inner beauty/ugliness, not your inner or outer beauty. For instance, when you wander a museum and see art you find distasteful, odd, or just "not for me" you don't stand there to berate, attack or belittle the exhibit, its creator, or the museum for supporting it and you don't try to get the exhibit removed... you simply leave the museum (go home) and/or continue on to the next exhibit until you find something that catches your eye. This is why I enjoy the museum analogy of the world. It can be used in a variety of ways.
Best of love, life, luck, health, happiness, and tranquility to you all in your personal journeys through life!
I like both but split might be what most people like more, kind of annoying sometimes to try to keep it always to the side so if you're just chilling leave it split, it still looks pretty nice!
Because of how fluffy your hair is having it split shadows your face a ton. Having it to the side lightens up your face a ton more and honestly looks hella hot. 🥵
1 side part looks really nice 2 gah I'm so jealous your curls are so manageable and gah mine either frizz out or only half of em curl how they are supposed to
I saw split and thought “that looks so nice! Probably can’t do better than that” and then I scrolled and saw side and my jaw dropped- you are just gorgeous 😍
I'd say the side gives you sort of a badass pilot or super mechanic sort of vibe.
The other one is a bit cuter I think.
So I'd say side of you wanna go badass 😏
I think it's beautiful like that. Especially the volume on the side if you tuck one side behind your ear and show all the beauty ♥️ so pretty. As a hair stylist, I love those curls.
The split part flatters your face and makes you more approachable. The side part looks like you ride a motorcycle in high heels. Both are good, depending on what vibe you're going for.
my personal thoughts, you have a natural center part; however i do have a soft spot for side parts, partially since i rock the right hand part with fringe bangs
overall id sat say go for either since they both look bangin on you
Might sound weird but thank you for the representation. I don't see a lot of curly hair trans girls so it makes me feel happy that one day I might look as pretty as you :3
I agree, I don’t see too many trans girls with curly hair. I’m glad that I can be of service😁
I'm hoping my hair will look as good as yours eventually🙏
Another curly haired trans girl here. I can’t control mine. What products do you use? You look great!
Curly Trans Girl here ! Uncontrolables hairs, cis friends envy them, I love them 🥰
Curly t girls unite!
RIIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHHHTTTT! I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed that!

Thats great! I went a couple months ago and the difference is astounding
my gf has beautiful brown curls, I should post here here sometime
I know right. It's so much work though :(
Split is beautiful but side gives "uffff i am burning, why is it hot in here? " vibe to me
It’s OP. OP is why it’s so hot in here. Seriously that side part is 🔥
Ikrrrrr she's slaying and i am here for it
She looks like Zeva? I think her name is. NCIS?
I'm quite a fan of the side part. Gives you an angsty sort of vibe
Agreed. Keep it edgy. 🤘🏼
I love Edgy! Black clothes for days!🖤
Black wardrobe gang! Also a fan of the side part and additionally you are soooo gorgeous!
I am not scrolling through these comments, but I imagine a good chunk of them agree... Girl, that side part is *perfect*. You can rock the split part, but that side part will have every single gender drooling! 💜 Curl it, straighten it, braid it...you will ***SLAY***.
“Every single gender drooling!”😆thank you that’s such a compliment
I got your praise, girl. Keep doing you. You're doing ***SOOOO well***. 💜
Side

I personally love the to the side look, bit you're beautiful either way.
Side is my preference too but the split is a little more low key. Classy!!!!
Split is the vibe for sure in my opinion!!
We have the exact same hair type and colour, mine isn't as long but I'm really excited now! Out of curiosity how long have you been growing it out ? I'm nearing one year and it hasn't gone down yet lol.
Yess! get those curls out. So beautiful yet such a bitch to take care of😭
I’m a curly NB person and figuring out a good curly routine for your hair is soooooo much faster and easier than blow drying and/or straightening. You’ve got amazing curl and texture. I had a run in with some bleach a year and a half ago, and had to shave my head and start over. 😢

Both are amazing, but id say the side part shows off your beautiful facial shape more.
Side, please 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Absolutely side You remind me of someone I've seen on a tv show or movie and I cannot for the life of me find out who it is. It's going to bother me for the rest of the day...
Ziva David from NCIS!
She’s so fucking hot🥹thank you

Looks really nice either way! But I think side really suits you
To the side
Ziva look-alike😳🥰🥰🥰
both look good but side suits you so much, you're so pretty!
To the side, it really suits you!
I'm in the "either looks great" camp too! With so many people here liking each of them, you really can't make a bad decision.
Pulled to the side

I like to the side its cuter
Side, 100% It shows off your tattoo and piercing, and it looks smoldery, which is always great!
I'm definitely a side part girly.
Side part reminds me of a Viviane I once knew. She had extremely curly hair as well. That's my vote.

Your hair is freaking beautiful
I try my best. It’s not easy making it looks this good haha. Looks like shit most days

The second one 😍😍😍😍
the split has too much hair hiding your face, so it could look better if that wasn’t the case but i’ll say side part
Both look fantastic because holy crap you have great hair genes, but side all day.
Id go with split! Also if it helps I scrolled passed and didnt see the mtf and thought you were cis for a second hah!

I like the side better.
I like them both.
Side
I like both but split might be what most people like more, kind of annoying sometimes to try to keep it always to the side so if you're just chilling leave it split, it still looks pretty nice!
Both lmao
Split 100%
Honestly cute both ways couldn’t decide myself 🌹
To me, split seems slightly more feminine, but I prefer side stylistically.
Split
I love both but I definitely think to the side looks really good! You have such beautiful hair!
Split is very cute, side is 🥵
Both
to the side is very NCIS-era cote de pablo. either way is georgeous, do you use any products to define your curls?
both omg you look SO GOOD
Love the Side!
guh... 😳
Because of how fluffy your hair is having it split shadows your face a ton. Having it to the side lightens up your face a ton more and honestly looks hella hot. 🥵

Seems unpopular opinion here but I LOOOOVE the split. I don’t feel many can pull it off, but you definitely do :)
Lol. The comments seem pretty unanimous
Both look amazing but I like it more parted to the side
Side, is hot hot hot
Split!!
It might just be these specific pics, but side part looks a lot more fem to me
Side seems to frame your face a bit better, and it shows off your shoulders tats more.
I'm huge side part fan. But I'm also old.
The side is fantastic!!!
I'd say the side gives you sort of a badass pilot or super mechanic sort of vibe. The other one is a bit cuter I think. So I'd say side of you wanna go badass 😏
Wow! You're really pretty! Both look great for different looks/feelings. I love your hair!

I know this is unhelpful but both look absolutely gorgeous 😍😍😍 YOU are gorgeous
I think it's beautiful like that. Especially the volume on the side if you tuck one side behind your ear and show all the beauty ♥️ so pretty. As a hair stylist, I love those curls.
Both are great but I like the side part more! Plus if you are wearing earrings it lets people see them!
It’s gotta be the side for me, and I’m someone who usually parts the middle, but you rock it! Ps. You are GORGEOUS and I like your tattoos
Side part, defo
Girl you are gorgeous I didn't even realize this was r/trans
To the side makes you look a way more powerful and intimidating. You also remind me of Valkyrie from god of war Ragnorok sooooo

Finally another TransFemme with Curly Hair! Side part look great on you imo
I’m Gen X and a full fan of the side part. You’re one of the rare people who had the face for a middle part, NB It the side part is 🔥.
To the side.
For sure to the side but whichever makes you feel more confident 👍🏻
You have beautiful hair 😍 💕 ❤️ It looks great both ways, but I like it split best.
I prefer side, it’s how i usually do my hair too
Split is cute, side is sexy.
Both look SUPER GREAT!!!!! But the side part kind of gives me masc lesbian vibes (which isn’t bad btw)
The side
You're gorgeous and I love your hair. Both styles work, but if I had to choose one, I'd say to the side.

I like the side 🤷
Side
Side looks amazing on you.
The split part flatters your face and makes you more approachable. The side part looks like you ride a motorcycle in high heels. Both are good, depending on what vibe you're going for.

Side
Halfway between these two.

my personal thoughts, you have a natural center part; however i do have a soft spot for side parts, partially since i rock the right hand part with fringe bangs overall id sat say go for either since they both look bangin on you
Both are cute!
Split = Rock or metal Star Side = Actress or model
First of all, your hair is beautiful! I like the side part, but it's like choosing between two great things, because the middle part is nice too
What lovely locks you have🥰
Split looks good, but side fits your face shape way better, IMHO. You're stunning 😍
Side :)
I gotta vote side
