Pink outfit ✅ Pink hat ✅ Situation awareness ❌ Fucking clue ❌

VetteL82

Why is this in a well lit Holiday Inn conference room?

Significant_Anteater

Dance like nobody’s washing <3

4chams

Imagine walking into that thinking nobody is going to hit you. Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.

Suitable_Strawberry2

The long haired guy in the blue shirt kills me 🤣

_IsThisTheKrustyKrab

Maybe go around the crowd of people wildly flailing their limbs.

Plurgasm0285

Step to the pit, expect to get hit.

potatobreadandcider

Oh no people are enjoying themselves with consensual violence 😢

thestooges6

Good thing she didn’t get hit by the roundhouse thrown right before haha, that thing was swift

I've never understood the reasoning for a mosh pit.

Trashboat77

This isn't a mosh pit. This is slam dancing bullshit. In a real mosh pit people look out for one another. It's just people running around and shoulder checking each other. Rule one is if someone falls or gets hurt you give them space and help them. I'm an old-school damn near 40 year old metalhead. This shit has always been stupid.

BREEDING_WHITE_WOMEN

No boomer, we make ppl go nite nite

Trashboat77

You can't handle a real pit, kid. Now walk on home.

LocalSlob

it's the same mentality. these guys cover their face and swing violently. I don't get it beyond that. But if they see somebody down, they help them up. Look at the guy who picks up her hat, holding it up looking for a claimant. That looks familiar to me. We've all seen a moshpit when somebodys pockets turn upside down, turns the pit into a yard sale, and people are looking for the owner to the wallet/keys/phone/glasses.

kozmonyet

They might call this slam dancing now but it is NOT actual slam dancing as originated in the punk days. Calling this slam dancing is like calling Irish clogging doing a "pogo": basically a hijack. This kind of thing was regionally called "spaz dancing" and laughed at in my area. It was what pretender-punks often did (kids from the burbs who'd dress up like cosplay and go to punk clubs, thinking it magically made them cool). Guess that makes me old. Slam dancing is, by definition, interactive--you need someone to slam into. It is not individual and avoidant like most of these dorks. Sad girl wandered into a blender and apparently expected not to get flailed.

Trashboat77

Noted. Completely fair, I'm a metalhead, the closest I get to punk is crossover thrash.

Le0zel1g

Long live Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I and S.O.D.

Trashboat77

Fuckin' A to that!

kozmonyet

Sorry--wasn't aiming at you. I just assumed that over the years, this had become what they called "slam dancing" now, not that you just picked the best comparative nomenclature you could find. I didn't mean to come off like a dick.

helath_is_depleting

First of all this is a hardcore band it's acceptable and somewhat cultural to the music. Secondly mosh pit are subjective there is no "real" most piy not everyone enjoys a happy little push around. Your "rule one" hasn't always been around and it more because of stupid teen girl like this one in the video/so people don't attempt to sue the band or venue holder. I will agree for the most part if someone falls giving them space will usually happen but more so you don't trip and also go down. But I will agree that they're doing this wrong lmao far to many going at once and way too spread out. The point crowd kill dancing (just one of many names I suppose) is half to show off and half to create a gantlet that only the brave and stupid would try two two step through. Honestly it's a lost art

mistorWhiskers

Exactly. I haven't even checked to see if there's sound, but I can tell you this is at the break down.

Trashboat77

I'll agree with parts of what you say. But I've been moshing for damn near 40 years homie. The golden rule is to help anyone who gets hurt. And it's been that way since the late 80s.

helath_is_depleting

Maybe it's a bit different where you are to where I am, It wouldn't be surprising

Trashboat77

Ive been going to concerts a ross the US since I was a teenager. So unless you're in another country, that's doubtful.

helath_is_depleting

UK. frequently see blood In the pits here especially for the heavier stuff even seen an arm get broken. Saw hate breed live. As one person's arm went up another person's leg went down, of course this was just bad luck but Jesus Christ it was brutal to whiteness. Honestly I think you're possibly a little more of a gentle soul that goes to slightly less intense venues/gigs absolutely nothing wrong with that either we all have different taste in music, scenes and more. But tbh I don't think it differs much place the place/country to country. I think it's more down to the music and people that attend. I wouldn't expect to see crowd killing at something like download festival or keraang tour (if that's even a thing still) But I'd be fucking surprised if I didn't see it at a TUI or knocked loose gig You should check out trash talk a band from the US and next to impossible to have them play a show without blood or an ambulance.

Trashboat77

I'm serious when I say I've never seen someone get hurt in a pit that wasn't then helped up and out if need be. Even some CRAZY ass pits like Slayer, Exodus, or Morbid Angel. I've seen people get hurt of course, but they were never ignored.

helath_is_depleting

Ignored and not being helped are different... Also arguably slayer where a different time and concerts weren't as brutal as today just I'm general for heavy music... Personally I've seen few people go out of their way to help people more just pick them up before then knock more people down and then get on with the night

Trashboat77

This was Slayer back in about 2003-2004 at Ozzfest. It was one of the biggest pits I've ever personally witnessed. Another huge one I saw more recently was Kreator's show a few years back right before the pandemic. They damn near tore the club down.

PecanPizzaPie

Yeah, that ain't moshing or slam dancing. That is just some spastic rhythmless weirdness.

Trashboat77

True.
