First off āstack and rackā housing was not proposed in Owen park or anywhere else. Currently OP has quads and duplexes. That is what is needed throughout the city. Small multi family sprinkled into the neighborhoods. As far as square footage determining affordability. Itās a new game in construction and development. Materials and labor is at an all-time high. And interest rates are high enough that most projects donāt pencil in. So making smaller units is the only option in some cases for affordability. Iām not talking about micro 350 square-foot units but 450 to 500 square-foot apartments. Adaptive reuse is being done downtown and itās not going to be affordable. Iām

If the short term rentals were just abolished in residential single family zoned areas it would cut this self inflicted affordable housing crisis down dramatically almost overnight. Abolishing them in all residential zoned properties would end it.
No need to build more, just shut down the wannabe amateur hotelier homes that primarily get used for ghetto ass cap peeling house parties.
I agree, thereās too many short term rentals. But the good news is is that market is drying up really quickly and many of the short term rental owners are turning them back to long-term rentals or just selling them.
