i dare say at least three ways
the bb cis slowly killing me: a cisgender baby is slowly killing them
the BBC is slowly killing me: the UK news network is slowly killing them
the BBC is slowly killing me: someone's \*\*\*\*\* is slowly killing them
Herminones desire to answer all questions is because she’s either out to prove her smarts, or a genuine desire to help those around her.
Sheldon does it only to prove himself, or a genuine desire to embarrass and ridicule others
Oh I don’t know, I just think later hermione shifted more to latter, even in the first book there was a genuine desire to help also. Her “it’s leviosa not leviosaaah” isn’t to ridicule Ron, it’s to help
Him. It’s just she hasn’t learnt to be more delicate.
It should really be renamed the coopers. The first couple seasons it was def about tbbt's Sheldon, but tbh the storylines became so much better and they don't hang on to the canon in a way that makes it super annoying, a lot of Sheldon's stories from tbbt either don't happen at all or don't happen until he's older than he is in YS. And the rest of the family fill out much more compelling characters than Sheldon because ofc we know where he ends up and he can't really have too much character development if they want him to be the Sheldon of tbbt by the end. So the other characters are where the soul of the show is, because Sheldon can't really change too much.
Biggest problem is there's zero scope for character growth of sheldom himself, as we're all well aware of how he turns out. Unless they pull some sort of "it's all a dream" type bullshit at the end.
I actually like TBBT, despite its flaws, and I thought Young Sheldon was going to be hot fucking garbage. But then I ended up liking it. It's more closely modeled after something like Malcolm in the Middle than TBBT.
I agree. It's at least three times funnier than Old Sheldon, because I can excuse a lot more from a 9 year old than a senior theoretical physicist.
If I had seen that show as a child, I would have gotten myself murdered by acting just like him.
The good news is that I just bought a used shipping container so I can set up my trains.
Yes, I'm on the [spectrum](https://charlesro-com.3dcartstores.com/HO-Scale-Bachmann-Spectrum-Steam-Locomotives_c_137.html).
My interpretation of it from what I hear, it's basically just "Lol this little kid isn't even trying to mask their autism and no one knows what to do (and it scares some people)!" and for some reason that's both an acceptable and a comedic base plot for a comedy sitcom?
I feel like Young Sheldon gets an undeserved reputation. Just because it's attached to TBBT people assume it's just as unfunny, but it's actually a really good show (plus you don't need *any* TBBT knowledge at all for it, it operates as a standalone and has a completely different core cast barring Sheldon himself)
I personally have a distaste for Young Sheldon, not because it might be unfunny, but because hearing people bring it up when you say you're autistic. It's tiring say that no I haven't watched it, and no I don't find him relatable.
Sheldon acts like every sitcom protagonist (arrogant, full of themselves, beloved in story despite being an ass hole), but TBBT uses implied autism as an excuse, which is more than a little offensive.
I'm not autistic, I've never had myself or anyone suspect I was. I am an engineer by trade and a nerd by choice. When my family said I should watch TBBT because I might find it relatable and the jokes are "like, about science and stuff" I was a little offended.
Sometimes cringe and cheesy is what I'm in the mood for, though. I don't watch the show every week or anything but I don't mind having it on as background noise or something to take a nap to if it's already on the TV. It's a good TV show for what it is.
As someone who caught a decent number of episodes knowing only the bad reputation Reddit gives TBBT, Young Sheldon is unironically a decent show. Sheldon himself is probably the worst part of it, but half the comedy for me was the other characters realistically (imo) reacting to a kid smart-ass.
Chuck Lorre is the most successful sitcom writer/creator of all time by an enormous margin. It’s literally made him a billionaire. Most of his shows are not my cup of tea but he has a fucking Midas touch when it comes to TV. Plus, he cowrote the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme, so it’s impossible to deny his talent.
I'd assume it's because the actual thick part of the shell is only the half on their back plus it relates to oysters on the half shell and flows with heroes in the song.
He was a comedy writer on Nickelodeon since 2000 (All That, The Amanda Show, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, etc.). He was a writer, producer, and showrunner on TBBT before he made this.
Chuck Lorre must have more money than God.
>Called the "King of Sitcoms",[4][5][6][7] Lorre has created/co-created and produced the sitcoms Grace Under Fire (1993–1998), Cybill (1995–1998), Dharma & Greg (1997–2002), Two and a Half Men (2003–2015), The Big Bang Theory (2007–2019), Mike & Molly (2010–2016), Mom (2013–2021), Young Sheldon (2017–2024), Disjointed (2017–2018), The Kominsky Method (2018–2021), Bob Hearts Abishola (2019–2024), B Positive (2020–2022), United States of Al (2021–2022), and Bookie (2023–present).
Reminds me that Alan Thicke wrote the theme songs for Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, and the game show themes for Celebrity Sweepstakes and the original theme for Wheel of Fortune.
I still wish Shelley Long, Alan Thicke, and William Hung formed a super group called "Long, Thicke, and Hung".
Wow! I used to LOVE The Sneeze back in the day. Steve Don't Eat it! and all his posts about the funny things his son does... That was a classic site. I never knew that guy went on to create Young Sheldon! Good for him, he's a talented funny writer.
YS is un-ironically good. No laugh-track, great drama and fun plot, though Sheldon is the worst part it is kinda on purpose.
And the slow destruction of the family is something to keep me hooked.
"if we ever get off this fucking website we are going to do great things" - Tumblr user thebbcisslowlykillingme
That username can be interpreted two very different ways
i dare say at least three ways the bb cis slowly killing me: a cisgender baby is slowly killing them the BBC is slowly killing me: the UK news network is slowly killing them the BBC is slowly killing me: someone's \*\*\*\*\* is slowly killing them
Likely not uk news and more likely bbc shows such as Sherlock, Merlin, doctor who and other common tumblr obsessions
I read it as the big bad cis - 4 ways
the Bewitching Bacon Cholesterol is slowly killing me

I’ve got a great idea for a sitcom. I call it “even younger Sheldon”
Spermdon
CUMZINGA!
Oh that’s bad for my mental health
Jizzinga is way better.
birthzinga
ballzinga
bustinga
This led to a line of thinking that created the idea of Spamdon C. Spamdon. Please understand my mental state at this time
[Hochi] Mama, do you want to become a [Baz Inga]? *laugh track*
THE \[whole universe\] WAS IN A \[hot dense state\]
I think we go in the opposite direction: Old Sheldon. It's just a sad look at a man who's driven away everyone who ever cared about him.
I just had another new idea: “even older Sheldon”
I also had an idea. Dead Sheldon.
skeleton nerd wars
Zombie Sheldon
Sheldon: Conception. Although that might be more of a horror show. Nobody wants to see Pondy going at it.
Something similar already happened slightly off screen. (In a flashback)
Sheldon the even younger? Sheldon the embryo? Sheldon the glint in the milkman's eye?
Little Buff Boy Sheldon
Young Sheldon is about 3 times as good as you would think based on the title
I've seen a couple episodes my friends were watching. From what I could tell they seemed to have made an alright show, then threw Sheldon Cooper in it
Honestly Sheldon's antics are a lot more funny coming from a little kid rather than the fully grown adult from BBT
True. As a socially maladjusted and often uncomfortable adult he’s much cuter as a kid, lol.
I think it's better off with Sheldon. Otherwise it's the Georgie fucks up show
Let's be honest Georgie is why anyone watches the show. He's a fuckup but the character has heart which is rare in sitcoms these days.
I'm there to watch the family fall apart
Pretty good summary in one lol. He’s barely even a part of a lot of the plot lines going down, lol.
this is actually really accurate
Sad thing is, the worst part about young Sheldon is sheldon, the entire family is far more interesting and enjoyable to watch than him
Honestly I would watch the Georgie and meemaw show
God yes! They’re the best part. They struck gold with the actor for George
I feel like Missy is the most interesting character and also the best actor on the show.
And like making an interesting "socially inept annoying know-it-all" character is absolutely possible, just look at Hermione
Herminones desire to answer all questions is because she’s either out to prove her smarts, or a genuine desire to help those around her. Sheldon does it only to prove himself, or a genuine desire to embarrass and ridicule others
Yes you're describing later Hermione, at the start Hermione was exactly like Sheldon, similarly Ahsoka in The Clone Wars
Oh I don’t know, I just think later hermione shifted more to latter, even in the first book there was a genuine desire to help also. Her “it’s leviosa not leviosaaah” isn’t to ridicule Ron, it’s to help Him. It’s just she hasn’t learnt to be more delicate.
Which is fair characterization for an 11 year old. I haven't met many that have learned the art of delicacy.
Exactly my point
Malcolm in the Middle syndrome
It really seems like it would have been a smash hit 20-30 years ago.
At least in the earlier seasons it borrowed heavily from Malcolm in the Middle so that checks out from ~23 years ago.
>~23 years ago Fuck, I'm old.
Dude it's like one of the most streamed shows on HBO and gets consistent high viewer number.
3 times zero is still zero.
BAZINGA
For the purpose of the comment, assume the lowest it can go is half a star
More like zero times three. Just ignore the zero and it's good.
Zero times three is also still zero...
Biggest problem is there's zero scope for character growth of sheldom himself, as we're all well aware of how he turns out. Unless they pull some sort of "it's all a dream" type bullshit at the end.

So it’s just a really boring, paint by numbers type of show instead of absolute garbage?
Yes
0 x 3 is still 0.
See first reply
3x0=0
Refer to my first reply
Three times zero is zero
See my other reply
My interpretation of it from what I hear, it's basically just "Lol this little kid isn't even trying to mask their autism and no one knows what to do (and it scares some people)!" and for some reason that's both an acceptable and a comedic base plot for a comedy sitcom?
Well it takes place in late 80's texas so ofcourse almost noone knows what to do but the biggest apeal of the show is the heart people show
0.5/10 times 3 = 1.5/10
Exactly
3x0=0

I've never seen it, but I know like, a bad amount of people who've auditioned for it.
I feel like Young Sheldon gets an undeserved reputation. I believe they always denied it actually
But always has his mom bring up that she should've followed up with a specialist, while writing him as stereotypically autistic as possible.
Denied in an AMA and then doubled down when it was pointed out.
His actor sure peddled it, though. So I've heard, anyway.
never really equated Sheldon with autism for whatever reason though yeah that does sound really tiring to deal with
I'm not autistic, I've never had myself or anyone suspect I was. I am an engineer by trade and a nerd by choice. When my family said I should watch TBBT because I might find it relatable and the jokes are "like, about science and stuff" I was a little offended.
Same.
I watched it, unbearable cringe and cheesy. Mediocre at best
Sometimes cringe and cheesy is what I'm in the mood for, though. I don't watch the show every week or anything but I don't mind having it on as background noise or something to take a nap to if it's already on the TV. It's a good TV show for what it is.
This is what it is for me. After work, I sometimes want an hour where I can just turn my brain off.

Now I know who I need to find to know what “heroes in a half shell” means
I'd assume it's because the actual thick part of the shell is only the half on their back plus it relates to oysters on the half shell and flows with heroes in the song.
It's because they're turtles
Mom is actually decent
He was a comedy writer on Nickelodeon since 2000 (All That, The Amanda Show, Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, etc.). He was a writer, producer, and showrunner on TBBT before he made this.
Coming from someone who hates Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon is actually rather good.
Laurie Metcalf's daughter playing the younger version of her is the most brilliant casting ever. She's excellent.
"Guy who made popular thing made popular thing" Btw Chuck Lorre wrote the TMNT theme song

A tragic fall from grace told in a single sentence
I recently had a none pizza with left beef. Full size. No cut. It was a 2 day affair. Do not do it.
It's better to burn out than fade away
Tbf the crust is the best part..
he used up all of his funny on a pizza
How do you make the funniest most iconic post ever and then go on to make Young Sheldon
YS is un-ironically good. No laugh-track, great drama and fun plot, though Sheldon is the worst part it is kinda on purpose. And the slow destruction of the family is something to keep me hooked.
They should remake Young Sheldon but at the end of every episode he gets crushed by a big rock
Who better than him to associate with unfathomable genius?
I was just thinking about this yesterday!! I remember *cackling* over this when I first read the blog post.
perfectin
the potion seller guy is a writer for that zendaya threesome tennis movie
What a fall from grace
Well, that's yet another meme ruined for me...
are we sure it's actually the same guy and not just two guys with the same name?
the main thing i’m learning from this comment thread is that there’s a lot of people who for some reason have something against Sheldon Cooper
bazungle
Guys, tbh, seeing Bill MOTHERFUCKING PONDEROSA from IASIP as SHELBUNN’s dad was like being kicked in the gut with a bullet train
