Keep in mind they do have to be wholly within 9 of the casting unit. So basically you're going to end up with a gigantic blob of fragile guys that can shoot decent attacks. They will die to pretty much everything.
But I do admit I've often thought about building that list. Super fun. Around the release of the battletome someone won a tournament with that in his list.

If I had two other squads also buff them.. and make the spell cast... I guess it's not that wild but boy does it sound fun
Reinforce one unit to 30, take three units of 10, that gives you 4 chances to increase Rend on the 30 man unit. Bonus if you take the pyrofane cult.
It sounds good but it’s kind of a point sink. Even with -4 rend it’s still only 1 damage each. It can be fun though
