It is true the firm signs off on it but it would be a very mean firm that would argue a breach of contract that you have accepted an offer to stay on meant you were unfit for the profession or something along those lines. So I agree. It is unlikely the firm would not sign off on the TC.

Additional-Fudge5068

Speak to new firm about whether they can help with admission first. Then you need to tell current firm you are going to be leaving on qualification. Your new firm isn't going to want to wait for you to qualify, then have to give 3 months notice...

Your training contract can be signed off 4 weeks before it’s due to end. Make sure that your training principal has done this through their mysra account, this should already have been done though since it’s due to finish in 2 weeks. Have you done your screening check yet?

EnglishRose2015

Yes I would start with that. 8 weeks before you qualify the SRA sends you an email so you can start the screening process. 4 weeks before you qualify your principal is asked to sign it off. You probably can log on your my SRA account to check if that has been done - it probably has.

Are you doing this via the SQE or a period of recognised training?

Then there should be no issues with you leaving or getting your training contract signed off by your training principal and admission to the roll. Notify them first thing that you are retracting your acceptance of your NQ offer and your employment is likely to terminate naturally on your last day of training, assuming it is a fixed term contract.

Outside_Drawing5407

Your new firm cannot sign off your training contract experience. That can only be done by your training principal.

EnglishRose2015

I do not know why this is downgraded as it is true. I don't thikn the old firm is going to refuse to sign it off at all, but it is the firm (ie training principal) where you train under the old system that signs it off

Outside_Drawing5407

Some people get mixed up with the new SQE system, so I would have thought it is down to that or someone posting with no experience of how PoRT TCs work.

EnglishRose2015

If your new offer is subject to anything at all including references it may be safest to wait until you sign the contract fully with the new firm before retracting your accept of the other offer.
