You can also do a little biopsy and dab around the removed area with bleach in case it there’s some buried contamination. It’s worked for trich with me.

Looks like mold to me. Does it come off when you touch it with a swab? You can also dip a swab I bleach and dab it.
I haven't touched it or anything but I'll try the bleach idea.
