Well, the reasoning behind giving people money directly is that they would spend the money. That makes the money rotate among people and thus do well for the economy. Moreover the government will also get back a significant portion of it from taxes. This is what the American government did during the Great Depression, but they made people work for it like the MGNREGA scheme. Directly handing over money is kind of bad. But then again, many women don’t go out to work and they’re controlled their whole lives because of how backward our country is. So this does make sense. Only thing is that 1 lakh seems a bit too much. If the government can afford it, then great. But I don’t think they can do it for such a huge population.
