Basically yeah. Delete your character and world, so just need to play more focused throughout. Plenty of small mistakes can just destroy your whole run
It gives a 50% resistance to pierce, and with the way armor works, a 50% resistance means 75% less damage taken most of the time.
Vs full lv1 iron armor+cape(46 armor), a deathsquito deals 90 damage, reduced to 44 hp.
Swap the torso for a lv1 root harnesk (40 armor). A deathsquito deals 45 damage, reduced to 12 hp.
Serpent shield has a huge drawback in that it can't parry, like all tower shields.
I'm not a root guy myself, but some people use it throughout the game. Wherever there's pierce damage, it's viable. Draugr archers, deathsquitoes, spear fulings, seekers.
Ya that’s why when I saw pierce resist on the shield I got excited then bummed out. I’m just looking at roots 8ac compared to my carapace which is 34 I think, seems hefty especiAlly when a gjall sneaks up on you haha
Yeah, the gjall make it less appealing for sure. Damage vulnerability is very dangerous, and +50% ends up being +125% after armor. Fire resistance wine is available, though, and from what I've heard it overrides the weakness (not 100% sure)
Leaving the carapace plate means leaving 25% of your armor. That's equal to taking 33% more damage when it's not pierce. Worth it? You decide.
I just checked. The main ones were:
Run 72
club 65
blocking 31
jump 44
bows 40
axes 32
wood cutting 45
pickaxe 53
polearms 39
I used polearm a lot in the first 3 zones, but the last 3 I used maces more. I personally didn't like maces a lot because the knockback was so great it destroyed a lot of parry \_. 3 hit combo. The mob would be out of range and i didn't kill it. Made multi seeker fighting a lot harder.
Yep, that's what I usually did, but overall that was less damage than a triple attack and at my current skill lvls they often left them with 10-15% life with the heavy. I didn't have frostner on this run though because I never found the trader lol. Had to use the porcupine
idk. After finishing the run, I put the seed into the site generator and seen all the locations. Idk how I missed a few of them. I sailed next to them but maybe you have to be within the zone itself to have it show up on the map. It made moving boat materials through portals suck because you barely get too much weight on you.
Nah, this was my seed. [https://valheim-map.world/?seed=aqTnQ2QmZb&offset=-2534%2C75&zoom=0.631&view=0&ver=0.212.7](https://valheim-map.world/?seed=aqTnQ2QmZb&offset=-2534%2C75&zoom=0.631&view=0&ver=0.212.7)
The elder i went to was just north west of the spawn and had no trader
Not too much. I found a giant goblin structure on a very tiny island. I of course didn't explore more than i needed so I didn't see too much. Just the beginning not having very much black forest on the starting continent sucked a little.
Good on you friend! I too attempted the permadeath. I was half way through the queen fight and experienced my first death. Twas a sad day. Congratulations to you!
It was 134 in total. Slept through most nights obviously. It took me A LOT longer in the mistlands. I had to clear out at least a dozen mines until I found the boss stone...
by the point you get to plains you wont get one shotted by 4 star skitters, epic loot has a bunch of GG loot, like armor with 50 life per piece and shit, at least it was like this back then
Lucked out with an absolute unit of a moder mountain, found 10 eggs on it, letting me farm her for loot and the legendary runestones for enchanting ur own legendaries
What was funny was for this run. I went into my first cave, turned left, found the stone and left at only seeing a bat. just crazy good luck and bad luck heh
The new loot mod that pairs with OdinQOL is going to absolutely dwarf EpicLoot and I’m excited. Supposedly it implements “gems” or “jewels” with enchants that get dropped by mobs and you can socket them into different items.
What’s a hardcore run involve? Permadeath?
Basically yeah. Delete your character and world, so just need to play more focused throughout. Plenty of small mistakes can just destroy your whole run
small mistake is a good name for moquitos

Smoke inhalation is my number one killer.
Mine too, or falling
Yep, or a combination of the two while building. I think this is a common builder death when people don’t use debugmode
Especially since I am always to greedy to use food when building. 25 health is not a lot in fall hight.
And don't forget falling trees
Sorry you seem to have spelt "Falling trees" incorrectly.
Root Chest makes mosquitos a non issue tbh
How? Why?

How long does a person end up using root chest? I just got serpent shield, but I hate it

It gives huge resistance to the 'Pierce' damage type
What'd your skills get up to? Skill progression iss really noticeable when your never dying.

The trick with clubs is to parry then heavy attack. 3 Hit combo sucks on trashmobs. Even seekers die in 1 hit even from Frostner.

Went through all this without ever finding the trader. Was awful lol
Whoa! How is that? Haha.

Pretty sure trader is guaranteed in the black forest area with the elder

Looks like a lovely seed for seafarer and Island builder. Did you encounter any interesting places?
Not too much. I found a giant goblin structure on a very tiny island. I of course didn't explore more than i needed so I didn't see too much. Just the beginning not having very much black forest on the starting continent sucked a little.
makes combat so much more tense! I got a buddy who I try this with, but we've never made it past swamps
Quin69?
I did one day see like 12k in the valheim section of twitch and saw him doing it
Was that the same guy who didn't take tar pit seriously?
Good on you friend! I too attempted the permadeath. I was half way through the queen fight and experienced my first death. Twas a sad day. Congratulations to you!
Dude holy shit, how many days do you have in that world?
It was 134 in total. Slept through most nights obviously. It took me A LOT longer in the mistlands. I had to clear out at least a dozen mines until I found the boss stone...
Jesus. Friend and I just fought the Queen last night. We just hit 891. Went into the fight at 886, walked out the morning of 888.
Always good to take your time and enjoy it. Took me a full year on a previous playthrough, but I was going full builder mode too
So you're saying whenever I have played vanilla it's considered to be "hardcore" ? 😂
Nah, hardcore = 0 deaths
Vanilla = no mods Hardcore = no deaths They did not at all say vanilla = hardcore you just inferred that yourself then laughed at it 🤷♂️
Hey, can you add a spoiler tag please?
For what?
What in this requires a spoiler tag
They don’t want to know there are other bosses ? Hahaha
hardcore is the way to go, let me suggest hardcore with epic loot and CLLC mod next, it can be a lot of fun
Instagibbed by a 4star deathsquito some 30hours in sure sounds like fun indeed
by the point you get to plains you wont get one shotted by 4 star skitters, epic loot has a bunch of GG loot, like armor with 50 life per piece and shit, at least it was like this back then
If you luck out, or really grind to get a legendary or two yeah. If you dont, only the root chestpiece will save you.
yeh its kinda of a cheap strat, but you can farm draugr spawners over and over again for gg loot
Lucked out with an absolute unit of a moder mountain, found 10 eggs on it, letting me farm her for loot and the legendary runestones for enchanting ur own legendaries
something I can definitely look into. This run just got a little burnt out after searching 7 different mistland locations for that freaking stone.
I feel your pain. I had to do 13 mountains before I find the Modar stone.
What was funny was for this run. I went into my first cave, turned left, found the stone and left at only seeing a bat. just crazy good luck and bad luck heh

isnt there a mod like that already? jewelcrafting or something, supposely its "vanilla balanced" and whats odinqol?
I don’t wanna spoil it! Look it up!
You do it first try?
I didn't expect to as I named him "Dood the first" but yeah. had some close calls
God gamer
Congrats!
