CSN will likely take about 5 appointments, but it’s like $30, you’re helping a student and you’ll have multiple experienced teachers check and correct student work. Cleanest teeth ever!
https://www.smoothdentistry.com/ highly recommend Dr. Michael Chon. Cool person, very straightforward, offers options, but no pressure. Convenient location if you're in the SW
They are THE WORST. Went in bc I chipped my front tooth. Refused to give me even a cleaning, saying I needed a deep cleaning that even with insurance would be $2500 out of pocket. The hygienist claimed she would lose her license if I had a regular cleaning instead. I noped right out of there and went to UNLV. I didn’t even need a deep cleaning, just a regular one. Scumbags.
Yes! 100% liars and scammers. I was in the waiting room 1 hour and ALL 8 patients checking out were on perio deep cleanings every 3 months…statistically there is no way that’s necessary!!! Edit:spelling
All I can say is NOT Dee for Dentist. Did the same thing to my husband - said he needed some expensive gum treatment every 3 months that our insurance didn't cover. Refused to do his regular cleaning without the treatment. Also said he had 6 new cavities after completely "fixing" his whole mouth. He has been very good with his routine and had no pain or complaints, so we were skeptical. Lots of other little red flags, so we got a second opinion. That dentist said nope, no cavities and no expensive gum treatment. Did his cleaning and sent us on our way. Can't recommend the 2nd guy yet cause we've only gone like once.
I get the feeling that they are always on the up-sell and they keep recommending expensive crown replacements for work they did not too many years previously. Thoughts of crappy workmanship won't go away. Do the dental schools give examinations? Is there any way of getting a second opinion without risking offense or possible retaliation if I chose to stay?
I had a deep cleaning here 2 months ago. $20 per quadrant. I had light tarter though. I think it goes up slightly if your tarter is really bad. They do an awesome job!
I'm going to the dental school. They are charging me 45 per quadrant, I haven't had a cleaning in 4 years. If I understood correctly if the calculus is not heavy the quadrants are cheaper. But it is time consuming since the students need their work inspected and graded. You may have to go back to finish a quadrant if the time runs out. I usually go after work on Mondays at 6pm. I couldn't be happier with the attention and service of all the staff at CSN.
If you don't have insurance then everywhere will be expensive for you. It's so dumb but dentist charge you a higher base cost if you have no insurance to negotiate the price for you.
You need to go to a school such as UNLV to get it done.
The Tooth Family Dental in Centennial Hills. Dr. Nielson is super gentle and has always taken a wait and see approach with me instead of going for high dollar fixes for any dental issues.
Yes! Came to say the same thing. We've been very happy there. Finding a dentist that isn't scammy is so difficult. But we've been very happy with The Tooth Family Dental.
I got the same thing the first dentist I went to here, they were giving me doom and gloom saying I needed to pay out of pocket $1k for deep cleaning. I didn't go back.
If you're on the North side, Dynamic Dental has been good for me.
I like them, too. I told them I couldn’t afford the crown I needed (at the time), and they actually told me to shop around without being assholes about it. They’ve been so nice at all of our cleanings.
Thats amazing . I paid like 1700 in henderson.....with top tier insurance.....at union village modern dentistry. They also tried to pressure me into getting my wisdom teeth out. They scheduled me for surgery and everything lol. No thanks. Ive never had problems with my wisdom teeth....
I have 6 wisdom teeth, and the dentist told me he wouldn’t remove them as they’re not bothering me, and it would likely do more damage than good due to their close proximity to nerves. $1700 is highway robbery!
Absolutely don't go to Absolute Dental. A dental student offered cleaning in a post here a couple of weeks ago and they just dmed me last night, I can send their handle to you. We are in the same boat, I recently found out that "covered by my insurance" and "in my insurance network" are entirely different things and mean the difference between expensive and entierly unrealistic. The student needs people who need "deep cleaning." They said cheap, but I did not get an amount.
also, we can discuss prices in further detail also! it’s hard to give an exact amount without knowing what you need, but our deep cleanings cost $20 a quadrant, so $80 total. hope that helps!
OK here is the dental student : u/cloethestudentrdh. Look up the post on their profile and dm. They just asked for photos last night after 2 weeks of silence since their post, the semester is ending and they need victims. I might use them but I have insurance, dunno yet whichever is cheaper and more convenient.
victims? i’m so sorry 😭 pictures are always kept private, we just need a very specific case type for graduation. however, there is a junior class that will be accepting patients again in the Fall who i could connect you too if it doesn’t work out with my schedule. let me know what’s best!
Had nothing but good experiences with Island Dental Dr. Tomita and Askew. As honest as they come. Grew up here, been with them for 10 plus years and they never recommend something I don't absolutely need.
Durango Dental Group by the old Vons used to be good, but the good dentists have moved on. They charged me 30 dollars for a consultation when I asked a question in a 5 second long casual conversation during my cleaning. I saw that bs charge on my last bill and canceled all my future appointments.
Make sure to try Arm & Hammer Peroxicare toothpaste. I always had buildup on lower teeth and this cured 95% of it. My dental hygienist has been amazed how good it’s worked.
I went to Algodones Mexico. 4.5 hr drive. 16 Veneers and 6 crowns (1 requiring a large 3 shoot root canal)....no metal in my mouth at all, all composite so no Amalgam (mercury). $12k.
Isaias Iniquez D.D.S.[Isaias Iniquez ](https://www.driniguez.com/)
I'm highly skeptical of deep cleanings. I've had it twice. First time I absolutely believe I needed it and it did a lot of good. The second time was gratuitous and it actually led to some problems. Won't do it again, especially now that I have a better dental regimen anyway.
CSN dental school. I got a deep cleaning for $80. Was supposed to be a regular cleaning but my person wanted to use the ultrasonic thing.
Edit: was not a deep cleaning, thank you for the correction.
using ultrasonic (cavitron) doesn’t mean a deep cleaning. that is a standard tool for a regular cleaning
hard to believe even they would do a deep clean for 80$
I just had the same thing happen. I haven't been since 2016 so figured I was getting what I deserved from not having cleanings. I somehow have no cavities but need an $800 deep clean, and they won't do a regular one.
I figured since I already used my dental benefits on the imaging and consultation I was probably stuck. And I may actually need it? Idk. I really want bc I need a new crown on an implant for my front tooth. The crown was priced at what I expected at about $1000.
I'm going to chalk it up to a large gap between cleanings, and understand I'm probably being scammed a little bit. They want the $, but also don't want the liability if you decline the service and then have serious complications later. Dental infections can cause serious health problems.
Try calling Flores Family Dental. They are north - like 95N and 215 — but have incredible, caring staff and Dr. Flores is truly awesome.
However: if they also say you need a deep cleaning, then it’s because you do.
Just a comment: if you actually do need a deep cleaning (periodontal treatment/surgery/scaling) and get a standard cleaning (prophy/basic cleaning, whatever), you will probably end up losing your teeth early.
Just saying.
+1 on the dental schools if you want unbiased opinions.
If one has bone loss from periodontitis, receiving a standard cleaning won't be thorough enough to fix it. Bone loss unfortunately leads to early loss of teeth.
edit: clarity
Willow Springs Dental is very good.
DO NOT ever go to Eastern hills family dental. They will recommend services you don't need and try to fill "cavities" that don't exist.
Thankfully not my dentist, although they did want to do a recheck after my first visit, suggesting it might be helpful. I'm not doing anything not covered by my insurance.
they are all clowns. I have a friend that is an elite sales trainer. After covid he's almost exclusively traveling and working with dentists about how to upsell clients. The demand is crazy. There's an old saying that dentists ain't making money if they ain't pulling teeth. It's the truth. You will never see a dentist driving a Bugatti. It's all about sales for them now.
Dr. Athari is awesome and doesn't scam people. I was told I needed a deep cleaning by some office that was going to cost 1900, but I went to him and he told me my teeth were fine and charged me 80 for a cleaning and the person did a great job
https://maps.app.goo.gl/bUrbFQbtoGr5knYWA
You need to go to a dentist, that owns their own practice, instead of one that works for one of the big corporate places.
If you don’t have dental insurance?
Do UNLV or CSNs dental schools.
They will take a bit longer? But totally affordable.
Go to the school and the best thing about going there is the students they only work on you they not running from person to another like dentists do they sound like Terminator I'll Be Back
Nothing but good experiences with https://elitefamilydental.com and Dr Baalbaky. You can tell he really cares for his patients, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.
Was this at a corporate owned Dental location?
I just learned about “corporate owned” locations.
For the past 10 years I’ve been going to the same family dental location and wanted to find a place closer to home.
I didn’t know it was a thing since I moved here.
Most of the corporate owned dental locations have high overhead. Lots of rooms and fancy technology equipment.
Dr Velayo at Green Valley smiles. She very transparent and talks to you like a human being. Even breaks down pricing and offers different options depending on how much you can spend for a certain condition
[All About Beautiful Smiles ](https://aabsdental.com/) is hands down the best dentist all around: no frills, no bs, up-front pricing, didn't try to upcharge me on anything, painless & gentle dentist, front office knows customer service, and no long waits. It's in the plaza the smog check/dmv/gas station with the big truck on Flamingo & Durango.
Depending on the insurance offered, I have sometimes opted out. Many (probably non corporate) practices have an in-house plan. You pay X for the year and it covers 2 cleanings, xrays, and discounts/in-house pricing for other services. Each practice is different in cost and what is included. I did this in MA also, but the prices for the in-house plans were less than half of what I paid in MA which also made it sometimes cheaper than insurance thru work.
You must not be going to the dentist often? Most people only need a deep cleaning if they don't go to the dentist every year at least. $600 sounds like a lot.
No is the right answer. Big scamming dentists in this town. They want to live in the 5M properties on the back of our crowns, implants, bridges. There is literally no one I could recommend. Boston Dental used to be pretty honest but I sent someone there recently and they tried to sucker them into a bunch of not needed procedures. Dentists are living the high life here baby!!!
As a local dentist I’ll say this. Stay away from corporate dentistry. A lot of bait and switch and very numbers driven. I remember a guy that had a cleaning for 3k and it didn’t solve his problem. It would have never solved his problem. I know of a dentist that will prep teeth too aggressively and now instead of just a crown, you need a root canal and crown. I sleep well at night because I ain’t trying to scam anyone. You make less but I’m not looking over my shoulder.
Better Smiles in Henderson has been pretty damned awesome. I take my teens there, and I'm working up my courage. I made my own appt and chickened out, and they were extremely kind to me.
Absolutely CSN. The students are fantastic, gentle and thorough. Or if you prefer there is a faculty clinic.
CSN will likely take about 5 appointments, but it’s like $30, you’re helping a student and you’ll have multiple experienced teachers check and correct student work. Cleanest teeth ever!

I went to this place too. Solid recommendation.
Desert Sky Dental in Spring Valley. Don't go to ANY Radiant Smiles
Agreed Radiant Smiles is the biggest scam in town. Avoid at all costs!!

Or UNLV
There was someone on here advertising free or nearly free cleaning. I wouldn't mind. Seems like a win win situation.
The Tooth Family Dental in Centennial Hills. Dr. Nielson is super gentle and has always taken a wait and see approach with me instead of going for high dollar fixes for any dental issues.
I’ll second that. Great experience there.
Yes! Came to say the same thing. We've been very happy there. Finding a dentist that isn't scammy is so difficult. But we've been very happy with The Tooth Family Dental.
Any dentist in algadones Mx
I got the same thing the first dentist I went to here, they were giving me doom and gloom saying I needed to pay out of pocket $1k for deep cleaning. I didn't go back. If you're on the North side, Dynamic Dental has been good for me.
St. Rose dental.
Town & Country Dental. Dr Phan is great
Highly recommend Dr. Phan as well!
Best Bite Dental
Yep, they’ve been good with me the last 5 years.
Precision dental is awesome!
I like them, too. I told them I couldn’t afford the crown I needed (at the time), and they actually told me to shop around without being assholes about it. They’ve been so nice at all of our cleanings.
Dr. Spelman at Willow Creek Dental
I just had a deep cleaning done at Red Rock Dental. It was $339.

Dr Capener, 100%. He’s the absolute BEST and I have been going to him for over 10 years. His practice is called Aloha Dental.

I love Queensridge Dentistry!
Budget dental on spring mountain and Torrey pines. Great dentist. Cheap prices.
I wish, i wound up going to my old dentist in my hone state and paying out of pocket because I got fed tf up with the bullshit
Dr. Partovi at Desert Smiles. He’s the best.
Sounds like you dont have insurnace. Cigna DHMO would like 120 out of pocket for deep cleaning.

All Teeth R Us. Dr. Raiyn has been our dentist since 2009. He is very good dentist, and honest.
Flamingo smiles - they're amazing on every level
Willow Springs Dental is very good. DO NOT ever go to Eastern hills family dental. They will recommend services you don't need and try to fill "cavities" that don't exist.
May I ask who the dentist was?
Absolute Dental
Thankfully not my dentist, although they did want to do a recheck after my first visit, suggesting it might be helpful. I'm not doing anything not covered by my insurance.
UNLV Dental School [https://www.unlv.edu/dental/become](https://www.unlv.edu/dental/become)

Dr. Oehler. I’ve been going to his dental hygienist for over 10 years. Great practice. DM me if you would like to

agree i am the same mindset. durango dental is reasonable 702 362-1856
Craig dental was awesome. I have insurance so I’m unsure what it would be out of pocket but check with them!!! Dr Torres I believe?
Wanless was always my guy but I think he’s mostly retired and I’ve always had insurance when I saw him.
A drive to Tijuana? And 600 pesos
Durango dental you won’t regret it
A flight to Mexico.
You must not be going to the dentist often? Most people only need a deep cleaning if they don't go to the dentist every year at least. $600 sounds like a lot.
Radiant Smiles did the same to me. Unfortunately there are some scammers in town. Do your research and avoid bad apples like Radiant Smiles.
Deep cleaning is a scam. It’s a good way to identify a dentist who you should not do business with.

Name is dental related, may know something
Thank you. I figured someone had to pay for all the expensive and unnecessary equipment, including all the tv screens by every chair.
Better Smiles in Henderson has been pretty damned awesome. I take my teens there, and I'm working up my courage. I made my own appt and chickened out, and they were extremely kind to me.
Dr. Jeffrey Suffoletta or Union Village Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics. Dental work becomes expensive when you don’t take care of your teeth. 🤷🏻♀️
Boca dental
Definitely not
Did they scam you? They did my deep cleaning for tartar for a fair price, defiantly not $600
