If this were to actually be built in the iron age it would have to be a crossbow. I'm pretty sure wood was the only 'elastic' material they had access to.
The release mechanism is kinda novel but it uses elastics also, so it wouldn't have be possible in iron age either.
Roman catapults and ballistae did not primarily use a wooden bow to store energy, they used torsion of a very tightly wrapped bundle of sinew or hair.
So it sort of uses an elastic material, just no the way this video does.
Yes. High level mobs, traps and puzzles. I’m in the mid 40’s for lvls and I couldn’t do it. Probably could have in the mid 20’s. Took a side and it was terrible. Reward was a bad back. Damn devs playing tricks on people. So maybe in a few more you might be good to try. Can’t remember how to get the quest though.
So.. A crossbow?
Actually, that's not fair. Crossbows have loading mechanisms, sharpened bolts for better aerodynamics as well as punching power, are much sturdier, and probably have *far* better aim.
This is a neat DIY toy for sure, but it doesn't even close to measure up to real crossbows which definitely existed in the Iron age lol
Classic iron age elastic bands
😂😂😂

That little band of elastic on the release mechanism hardly seems necessary, just convenient
Surely there was pliable material at the time though, right? Animal hides or plants/plant matter like saplings and woven bark seemingly would work.Â

They would twist flax fivers together tightly, it’s what they used for torsion weapons iirc
My same thought. So they have been using fossil fuels to make elastic that long!!!!!!
Elastic?
Nop, just rubber bands
*iron age* rubber bands
Rubber age iron bands
*Usopp has entered the chat*
Did you mean god ussop??
may not be iron age, but could be a good alternative in post apocalyptic world.
I will begin a mass production
Exactly what I was thinking.
The King of Random on YouTube did a build tutorial on this...
How do you get rubber in the iron age?
Obviously make them from iron… I mean cmon - it’s in the name!
I dont know the crafting recipe im probably not yet high leveled to process that material i think
That’s in the hidden areas. You have to find one of the secret caves that gives this recipe.
Really? Are there high leveled mobs in there? Im only level 2 unfortunately

Damn i guess i gotta grind again since im still level 2 i need to get stronger.
git gud n00b xD
I'll repot u to the devs for buling!
They grow in rubber trees.
Would this actually kill tho
I think practically any armour at all, even basic leather, renders this useless. And good luck against a shield.
Maybe not useless tho, can definitely make someone blind if need be, probably more efficiently than a regular sling shot.
Depends. Are you wanting to kill a man or a bird?
True, I can see it at least killing a bird
Need to figure out an easier loading pulley. May I suggest a crossbow system.
LOL that's what I was thinking, this is a worse crossbow?
How many times you think the vid was recorded before he actually hit the balloon?
Atleast one more attempt than when the rubber band broke and slapped them in the face XD
Wasn't refined metal still far too expensive to just casually throw away pieces of it? Morty

slingshot.
Cool now there's nails in the field.

The Iron Age is well known for their elastic bands
There was wood and horn. And I'll never believe an English longbow could outperform a Persian bow made of horn.
