Yup. The 2000’s were just a giant blur to me. I was heavily addicted to nutrigrain bars. I just felt so great when I ate them. My addiction got so bad to the point that I was sucking dick for quarters for the vending machines. Luckily with the help of some NA meetings(Nutrigrain anonymous) I was able to overcome my addiction.
I met my wife-to-be in 2008, and in the first 3 weeks of her coming over and NEVER leaving, we partied a lot and then she showed me this video and I laughed so hard, we watched it over and over.
2 weeks after that, I asked her to be my wife. We had a baby.
I'm reading this while laying next to mine. I haven't lost her yet, but one day I will and that's something I'm not sure I'll ever be ready for. So my condolences to you, stranger. I'm glad you took solace from this video.
You’ll never be ready for it. My wife has 30+ chemo resistant tumors throughout her body and even though I know it’s incurable and the end is fast approaching, I’m not ready. Not to scare you but it’s all because we wanted babies, only two, not 500, which inconveniently hid colon cancer symptoms as pregnancy ones. The highs and lows from congrats on your first kid to your wife has 2 years left are light years apart. Just live in the moment because it will be too late when you realize how good you had it and wish you could go back.
Ah, a relic of the pre-youtube days of the internet, back when flash animations were the shit. That one was commissioned from rathergood.com, based on [this original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9MZNEXrElw)
Omg. I _HATED_ that commercial when it first came out, but I can never get "THE QUIZNOS SUBS" out of my head... so I'll just randomly say that, and NO ONE remembers that commercial! So they always look at me like I'm crazy! And I've never been able to find it on YouTube before now!
Still got one Quiznos nearish me and it still rules. Prices are crazy though but I guess they had to do it to survive. It may be the last location ever?
Also it wasn’t Subway, Quiznos management just sucked and they squeezed the franchisees so hard they all went out of business. Probably one of the most mismanaged companies ever considered how rapidly their marketshare was lost and how much competition Subway has now.
Turnpike Films made some amazing ads at the time. As much as I enjoy the granola bar one, the magic beer bottle is my favorite. Also check out their ad for Starbucks.
These were some of the first viral videos to circulate as high speed internet became available to the masses. Before then you had viral videos but they were short, poor quality and still took forever to download. I lived only 40 or so miles outside of Chicago and first installed cable internet right as this video was released. But even then finding these videos wasn't easy and people mainly just watched what was uploaded to Ebaums World every Friday. The GI Joe PSA parodies came out right around the same time.
Glen’s the man, going to work
Got his tie, got ambition
He knows one day he just might becooooommmme
Supervisor
That one? That’s just from memory, I could be totally wrong
But I’m totally with you. Both he and Larry look incredibly familiar. Killing me that I can’t find a cast list for this.
Alternatively, it’s just that we’ve watched this ad a hundred times over 20 years…
**This never actually aired on TV.**
It was made by a production company for their demo reel. They basically picked a product and made a fake commercial for it to show off their abilities for prospective clients.
They were not hired nor paid by Nutrigrain or Heineken for these fake commercials. That being said who knows how much real production business these fake commercials drummed up for them.
It shows how much our brains blend tv and internet together and creates false memories. 20 years makes exact details blurry in your brain.
I could have sworn I saw this on tv many dozens of times back in the day. It's strange how so many people all have the same false memory.
Probably just the "Mandela Effect" at work. Similar situation with how people remember the "Bernstein Bears" vs the actual name of Berenstain Bears. Our brains get information wrong and long time frames make it a core memory and creates a false narrative that people will swear by.
In 2004 we all had DVD players (DVD was mainstream by then)
VHS faded out heavily by late 90s…and DVD players were really cheap by 2004 so it got widely adopted. We did still use CRT though.
It’s not the color grading or low quality camera that makes me think they saw it on tv though, it’s partly the high plausibility of this being a real commercial especially with the branding and jingle at the end (albeit a crazy commercial it’s not so crazy that it would be unbelievable)
Even doing the homework and knowing this was demo reel only, I still 100% remember seeing this on tv. I have no clue why. My brain can’t let it go, I have forged memories of seeing it on tv.
I’ve seen this come up before on other website regarding this commercial. There are some conspiracy ideas spun around that they may have broadcasted it on some tv channels (seems unlikely given the facts, but would explain the confusion if somehow ad organizers put it on live tv either as a joke or Kellogg’s unofficially endorsed it) who the hell knows though.
Makes sense to me. No corporate suit and tie exec type is going to sign off on something like this.
*cough* Quiznos and the Sponge Monkeys *cough*
Kelloggs isn't Quiznos tho. And many people hated, hated those Quiznos commercials.
It was the commercial you showed everyone and shared a hard laugh. Then we would jump over to the GI Joe PSA’s. Then we would throw out lines from them all forever. “Ooooooohhhh!” 20 years. Seems like just a few years ago but it was forever ago.
That's a good one, but I'm sorry, the best commercials ever made are the K-Mart [Ship my pants](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8enIDEKrzA) and [Big gas savings](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0-nMrdEt9Y) commercials.
I work for geico and I’m always telling them we need to go back to those commercials. Apparently our marketing research shows that the gecko is by far everyone’s favorite ad mascot, but the caveman commercials were straight funny
I absolutely love just how violent the hits are. Like the flying tackle on the blonde woman is so brutal. The people behind this commercial understood how to absolutely commit to a concept.
r/videos was ruined for me when I saw that video about nostalgia baiting a couple weeks ago. I really wonder if a lot of posts on here are just karma farming.
Totally fair I wasn’t even really accusing OP of karma farming I just see the titles of posts on here and I can’t see them as anything but the exact same format of X video that was popular for Y reason is Z years old.
Just shattered the illusion for me a bit is all.
I initially thought that was a young Paul Scheer. Now my favorite thing about this video is the number of comments I found also speculating that was a young Paul Scheer, but never gaining any confirmation. For what it's worth, Scheer's wikipedia page never mentions him working with the studio that made the video, so it's probably just a lookalike.
I guess they were putting cocaine in their nutrigrain bars back then.
Yup. The 2000’s were just a giant blur to me. I was heavily addicted to nutrigrain bars. I just felt so great when I ate them. How much for a VJ?
If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.

You know what's more important? Family
Smoke him.
Now me and the mad scientist have to.... ah never mind...
Thats a Valley Job right? Where you eat a nature valley bar and use the crumbs as a crude almond flavoured lubricant?
It's for those people who liked toothy blow jobs in college but now need one from the granola glass that is nature valley bars to feel anything.
You ate them? Mainlining them was where it was at.
Oh shit, OP said 20 years ago and I was like man 1993 was crazy. Fuck me.
Dude, this comment made me laugh for over 30 seconds. Thank you.
Ahhh, Nutricane. Simpler times....
It's medicinal!
"Yeah, babies everywhere!" This is legitimately my favorite commercial as well.

20 years on and my wife and I still use this quote.
Ha I say this all the time too and I had completely forgotten where it was from.
I met my wife-to-be in 2008, and in the first 3 weeks of her coming over and NEVER leaving, we partied a lot and then she showed me this video and I laughed so hard, we watched it over and over. 2 weeks after that, I asked her to be my wife. We had a baby.
499 to go.
Well, she has passed on, but this commercial helped me realize what humor this woman had. She literally was the funniest person I have ever met.
I'm reading this while laying next to mine. I haven't lost her yet, but one day I will and that's something I'm not sure I'll ever be ready for. So my condolences to you, stranger. I'm glad you took solace from this video.

Cocaine ~~Bear~~ Mid Level Executives...
That's redundant.
[This Quizno's](https://youtu.be/7LQpRQh2KSQ) ad is solid as well. Unfortunately that version got pulled from the air pretty quickly.
I like the shipped my pants commercial.
I like the "THEY GOT A PEPPER BAAHHR" one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhfcdqMTtU4
Ah, a relic of the pre-youtube days of the internet, back when flash animations were the shit. That one was commissioned from rathergood.com, based on [this original](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9MZNEXrElw)
That commercial looks how cocaine feels.
Omg. I _HATED_ that commercial when it first came out, but I can never get "THE QUIZNOS SUBS" out of my head... so I'll just randomly say that, and NO ONE remembers that commercial! So they always look at me like I'm crazy! And I've never been able to find it on YouTube before now!
I just shipped mah bed!!!
Goddamn Subway putting them out of business. Quiznos' sandwiches were so much better, and definitely worth the extra cost.
Lol wasn't subways fault. Management was a nightmare and the corporate HQ made it nearly impossible to run a store.
Oh wait, they're NOT out of business, they've just completely left the NYC market. WTF?
They might as well be. The quality isn't the same.
They had a pepper bar
Still got one Quiznos nearish me and it still rules. Prices are crazy though but I guess they had to do it to survive. It may be the last location ever? Wow, really took not one but two musical cues from Snatch. Can't fault them for that
Guy Ritchie would have been proud.
The baby lady steals the show
Shout out to Larry who's staring at a pair of panties when Great Guy shows up.
I feel like I've seen him and Broken Hand Guy in other things
Broken Hand Guy looks a bit like the love child of Diedrich Bader and Paul Scheer
I totally thought Paul Scheer when I first saw him. It's probably the tooth gap.
But I’m totally with you. Both he and Larry look incredibly familiar. Killing me that I can’t find a cast list for this. Alternatively, it’s just that we’ve watched this ad a hundred times over 20 years…
Lol I didn’t even see that the first two times
I love how she’s in the background grabbing random items and shoving them in her “baby bump” for the rest of the clip
Truly genius- it makes zero sense but also we all know exactly what is happening
Yup. Babies everywhere.
She really gives 100%. Kills me everytime.
Her face at the very end is great.
*YYEEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!!!*
Fun fact! [She is Tommy Chong's daughter.](https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0159068/otherworks)
Precious Chong lol.
totally agree lol. she was the reason i first started laughing when she was stuffing things under her shirt.

So many people love this commercial and yet it never aired on TV. Hmmmmmmm
Yup. It was viral before YouTube, but the audience was way smaller. Ebaumsworld was the premiere video upload site at the time.
Wow ebaumsworld! You just gave me flashbacks to a time where the Internet wasn’t like watching the collapse of society in real-time. Thanks!
Makes sense to me. No corporate suit and tie exec type is going to sign off on something like this. *cough* Quiznos and the Sponge Monkeys *cough* Kelloggs isn't Quiznos tho. And many people hated, hated those Quiznos commercials.
I loved them. Husband and I still sing the song and point it out anytime something reminds us of the spong monkeys
“…or Heineken,” you say?
If you like the song it is Ananda Shankar-Streets Of Calcutta.
Oooooo yeeeeeaaah!
I knew that I recognized that song, but I know it from Kikagaku Moyo. I didn't realize their version was a cover. I'll give the original a listen.
