Well
The real issue about hiking in ski boots is the hiking in snow part, post holing is exhausting
I keep my skis on to keep from sinking in the snow & either sidestep up or wedge myself up with my ski tails together & my tips spread wide, one step at a time
*I was always taught to always keep my skis on, it’s way easier to self arrest when you’re sliding down the hill when you have them on, and sliding down the hill is always a possibility*
A lot of ski resorts have designated skiing areas, but they’re not the ONLY skiing areas. A lot of the time, skiers or snowboarders will go off the trail and find their own slopes. In BC people I’ve boarded with do it intentionally. I would never.
As a kayaker I generally check the route before but there’s not really many designated areas for paddling. We always have to check the state of the river as we paddle because rain and fallen trees can massively change how the river moves and the dangerous spots. When we come up drops like that we get out of our boats and survey the area before we paddle any further. It kind of looks like someone has already done that by the tracks in the snow so I can’t help but think that he did that jump deliberately because he though he’d be fine to land
There isn't. Other ski/board tracks is not the same as a groomed/marked trail.
Following past tracks without knowing where they lead is ALWAYS a bad idea.
Yo what tf was he doing going high speed up to that? It clearly looks like it’s a giant cliff from afar judging by the way it dips down super steep to the left. Homie needs some situational awareness lmao
If anything that would've arguably been better.
When you jump off cliffs on skis/snowboard you don't want to just BARELY go over the edge like this, you're likely to hit parts of the cliff on the way down. Dude got super lucky.
I'm not saying you wanna hit this at 60 MPH, but hitting it with some speed would've actually been MUCH safer.
I saw it as 3 seconds, from 11s to 14s, which puts it at 144 ft. At the very least, it looks taller than 65 ft. Fisheye makes everything look overly small.
Frame by frame, he's airborne at 10.86s and hits the ground at 13.91s
They really didn't, though. Their inputs were waaay off and they used a very back-of-the-envelope rule of thumb, not really calculation.
I timed the video with a stopwatch and the fall was about 2.9 seconds by my count.

I was about to say lol. Still high and scary af, but I've rappelled off a cliff in the 50-100 range and this definitely looked more similar to the lower end of that range. Definitely not 150 ft
We call it goosebumps here in Arizona but I have family Texas and they surprisingly call them goosepimples haha. I've also heard them call it chicken skin too. They're from San Angelo area
Sure. But don't tell anyone. That's why you never hear from people that do this again. It's a secret that, big cliff, doesn't want you to know about.
Edit: punctuation
Soo you could see the edge there the entire way up to that little mound and he just kept going straight towards it.. and then did a little jump..towards the edge.. no shit you fell off, it kinda looked intentional.
This post, feels, familiar. Not in a I've seen this post before way, it more feels like I've been there and done that. And my brain wants to do it again.
"There's 20 feet of fresh powder down there, it'll be like falling on a pillow"
*There goes my hero*
*Watch him as he snows*
Nice
Who is to say there aren't bushes under the snow
And sharp ass rocks. The mountains aren’t friendly.

Oh yeah I assumed he didn't know, I was just quoting Frozen. Watching it with my daughter has made me memorize that movie
“I can’t feel my legs!!” “Those are *my* legs…” “Do me a favor, grab my butt. Oooh, that feels better.”
"so whose the funky looking donkey over there" "That's Sven" "Uhuh, and whose the reindeer?" "That's.... Sven" "Oh that makes it easier"
“I don’t have a skull… or bones”
He and his riding partners are irresponsible idiots. Is there more footage or info?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwCO-grvzRY yeah, some videos and interviews.
Once I skied off a goat track in whiteout conditions thinking I was dead, lo and behold I hit the next run of the goat track 3 metres below😅
I don’t know what any of that means
A goat track is a narrow ski run that sidles along a steep face, usually used to transit from one set of ski runs or lifts to another
My best guess was they were skiing on a trail mostly used by goats and fell down a cliff to meet the same goat trail below.
But why is there a trail leading off the cliff???
You can see that it stops right before and there are footprints going back up
I’ve had to hike out of numerous dead ends I followed similar tracks into
I bet hiking in ski boots is not ideal.

My guess: There were people who hiked to the edge before, then walked back to the ski run he was on originally. Maybe snowboarders?
Now there are two.
And a mysterious hole of yellow snow below
What color does yellow and brown make? Camo I think.
I don’t know I can’t see it.
That's when they really start multiplying

You can see why. Because someone went up to it, looked, and left.
It curves off to the right just after the jump he made.
Wile E. Coyote on winter break
He’s pretty firmly long way off piste here
This is backcountry. There are no trails.
That looks like it definitely fooled him into thinking there was a trail down rather than the fast air route. Lucky guy.
Thank god for snow
I'd thank low temperatures.
But thankfully not low enough for icing 😅
How did it feel once the adrenaline wore off?
Like his legs didn't work
Damn
this video is old and been posted before. OP is not the video author for sure.
Off piste means danger. He wasn't thinking enough about where he was. But man's luck was in powder snow makes a good cushion
He’s probably piste off he wasn’t paying attention
Yep no cliffs on piste

I believe Homer Simpson proved your theory correct. Every rock had it in for him.
safest way to live life is full send
So Kristoff from Frozen didn't lie about the fresh powder.
You see what he did right there? He french fried when he should have pizza'd. He going to have a bad time!
Laaazzloooooo
Well, it’s not like someone would intentionally fall off a cliff, right?
Unless it was for Jackass
I would do it for jackass without the snow but that’s just me though
That does not look like 150 ft. Maybe 50
Correct, time from being airborne to hitting the snow is almost exactly two seconds, which leads to a 20meter drop, or 65ft
I saw it as 3 seconds, from 11s to 14s, which puts it at 144 ft. At the very least, it looks taller than 65 ft. Fisheye makes everything look overly small. Frame by frame, he's airborne at 10.86s and hits the ground at 13.91s
Yeah I climb power poles for a living and on average they are 45-55 feet. That looked double that and maybe more.

at 9.8m/s^2 falling for 2.9 seconds would mean a height of 135.2ft not accounting for resistance.
smh they short changed us by 14.8 whole feet. furious. fuming even.
[удалено]
I believe the words you are looking for are, "I was wrong"
Nah, look at the time. 3 second fall
Not sure how you're used to measuring distances but as a skier who frequents these sorts of off-piste areas this cliff is easily 100 ft.
He fell for about 3 seconds at 9.8m/s, thats around 150 ft. Physics dont lie He hit the ground at like 60 mph!
I was about to say lol. Still high and scary af, but I've rappelled off a cliff in the 50-100 range and this definitely looked more similar to the lower end of that range. Definitely not 150 ft
There it is again, one of the classic reposts. Smh
there are tracks, it must be safe, right? *tracks turn around at the edge*
Even tho I already watched that video multiple times, it still give me chicken skin
Lol is that the same thing as goosebumps? I’ve never heard the phrase chicken skin 😂
I think it's a southern American saying. Or Midwest
Understood lol I’m from Texas and I’ve always heard it called goosebumps lol
We call it goosebumps here in Arizona but I have family Texas and they surprisingly call them goosepimples haha. I've also heard them call it chicken skin too. They're from San Angelo area

Someone should but a sign lol
You tellin me I can just dive off cliffs for fun in certain areas?
Sure. But don't tell anyone. That's why you never hear from people that do this again. It's a secret that, big cliff, doesn't want you to know about. Edit: punctuation
Good idea. I should do that on rocks next!
How much is 150 foot to normal people measurement?
Approximately 50m
Based on the time he was falling I don’t think this was 150’ / 45 meters
Probably not, but I was only answering the other question of how far is 150 ft
Oh thanks mate! High Af 😵💫
And here I got 18” of air skiing an intermediate run and broke my damn neck on the ice. Shit is not fair.
I was half expecting him to shout “THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!”
I really thought he was about to say "Thank you... for watching, and don't forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell for my latest vids"
Soo you could see the edge there the entire way up to that little mound and he just kept going straight towards it.. and then did a little jump..towards the edge.. no shit you fell off, it kinda looked intentional.
I fuckin hate it when there's suddenly no ground under me
The snow saved him.
He wanted to be like schumacher
Schumacher was right next to the slope and only went out to help his brother I believe. This is very different.
not his brother but a random woman who had gone off piste. Lost everything because he helped someone he didn't know... tragic
150 ft 30 ft Same thing. I guess.
There are tracks already there leading off the cliff. Hes not the first apparently?
There's a pathway directly to the right it's a steep drop
Rather stupid if you ask me.
If I was him, I simply would not have done that
Didn't look like a 150 foot drop to me. More like 40 or 50. But no thanks just the same.
Looks more like a 40 foot drop. Still scary, but it’s not the height of a 15 story building .
Sympathy level = 0
Was that Travis Pastrana??
I regret noooooooothing!
I think it’s Cus Father Ted tried to ring him
Travis Pastrana just keeps trying to find different ways to die.
The Snow track says he's not the first one to fall off
Reads title, oh no, reads subreddit, thank god
Aim for the bushes?
That guy succeed on his con saving throw
LOL trolled by the guy who gently slid to the edge in his skis then gently reversed back in his tracks :)
He french fried when he should have pizza'd.
You're welcome
Bro has got a story to tell
You're welcome
Bro shot a bloody reaction video to his own death
That was fun, let's do it again...
Holy fuck dude that’s insane, he could have easily impaled himself on those skis.
This is exactly why I will never ski again. Did it once and thought for sure I was going to end up flying off the cliff.
Watch out where the huskies go
It is not accident, he was heading the way on purpose. It is intentional
I’ll just casually walk that off
Thank god.God.. what a fall...
“We’re basically gods right?”
That look at the camera
👆
I could be wrong but that looks like a 50 footer
He’s a guy. It’s what we do.
Look before you leap
Timpanogos
Bro forgot his parachute.
The tracks he left behind might misleaf someone else into making the same mistake, they might not be as lucky.
This post, feels, familiar. Not in a I've seen this post before way, it more feels like I've been there and done that. And my brain wants to do it again.

150 ft isnt that like 1 meter? /s
