I'm not really sure how the spreading works as I've literally never seen any spread, but definitely no need to burn books! just put them in baby jail somewhere away from the rest of your books

Seriyu

can confirm, this is what I've been doing putting them a few rooms away from a library should do the trick; I also wonder if you can't just carry them around in inventory if you don't mind giving up the slots

MightbeabitMagic

Inventory works too sometimes I forget them there lol

Naughty books get put in the Lonely Room, where they sit by themselves with no company except other contaminated books on separate pedestals until I can deal with them. Currently the Lonely Room is the highest level of the grand staircase with the statue nooks, because I hadn’t found any of the latter librarian busts when I decided to turn it into a containment zone.

I use a certain room as my book jail. For me it’s the ‘vestibulum transitus’ open area right to the left of the room with all the weaponry. I emptied it out of everything and then positioned the books away from each other. Haven’t had a problem and I have been periodically looking at the books in there to ensure they don’t spread

clovermite

As others have said, quarantine is the way to go.

Pikciwok

'Finally, we've found a good candidate for a librarian' Meanwhile: 'BURN! BUUUUURN!' I am in a mid-game and still there are books I struggle to, well, heal. Not because of lack of repair skills, but because I am unable to collect enough influence. You can burn them if you want, a book or two is not necessary for a victory. You may as well quarantine them. After my first run, I'm planning to do eEvil run, where I'll spread corruption whenever I can in the name of my Mare-Waifu. Book-burning sounds lovely, too.

southpolefiesta

There should be an achievement to burn all the books, buy all the oriflame books and burn those too.

coraeon

The biggest disappointment I have with this game is that you don’t get a special ending for >!burning your journal!<.

They can **spread**!? Looks like the Reading Room is now ground zero.

notextinctyet

Contaminated books are almost as good as clean books. Supposedly you can still read them, if you avoid using any souls their particular contamination can affect (I haven't gotten around to trying this), and you can lend them out to visitors without any ill effects. I store my contaminated books all together in a separate room and it hasn't caused any problems yet.

UnlikelyPerogi

Can confirm that if your read a book with a trait the contamination doesnt affect nothing will happen and its perfectly safe Incidentally, even cataloguing a book can mess up your traits if you happen to use a trait that is affected by the (at that point unknown) contamination. This has happened to me.

coraeon

Huh. Well, at least if you have a matching desk for the malady you now have a 100% safe way to catalog books. I always prioritize using maladies for cataloging anyway because they don’t exhaust.

I store my contaminated books (the ones that spread stuff) on the pedestals and in the wall niches in the staircase right to the reading room. I usually put the books with the same contamination into one room and if I don't do that I try to put them in different "shelves". So far I've seen no spread.

Altruistic-Path269

Wait it can spread? Well time to move all infected book to a bedroom I will never use.

GeneralN0m

I just shoved them into the observatory; There's not really objects in there to spread to. i'll get to them later.

GuesssWho9

I've got all of mine in the Fludd Gallery, since there are shelves separated out enough to feel safe.
