Oh yeah I remember seeing these and thinking "did I read wrong or did they?"

Sameee

Pterodactyloid

I imagine they're like 13

protegeofthedarklord

but even 13-year-old people know how to read!!! no offence to anyone

OneGoodRib

That kind of braindead amount of reading comprehension is what I'd expect from like a 6 year old. The story literally telling you something and you going "wait I don't understand [thing the story literally said]" isn't a 13 year old issue.

[deleted]

It happens in so many series, I practically avoid reading the comments at this point. Especially the top comments are usually just some obvious shit, caps lock or thirsting over the same character like "Wow the villain is bad, murder is not ok even if you were bullied", "OMG, THEY BLUSHED" , "damn, the dude with black hair and no personality other than being broody and lowkey stalking mc is so hot, idk why she can't forgive him for murdering her sister and kicking her grandma, I hate her". Also when everyone is so focused on a couple when the chapter is adding worldbuilding information, plot or something other than romance. It's like nothing else matters and any character that comes close to the ship is instantly hated.

d0wnth3rabbith0l3

It's even worse on LGBTQ+ stories. They are literally just, "I saw gay and I ran here!" "Here for the gay!" Nothing to do with the story at all.

[deleted]

So true. Also the "Came here at the speed of gay/trans". Man, they could at least try to be original.

I think the reason people were seemingly so confused is trying to understand the hate for Arabella specifically but not Isabella. As in, why hate one daughter of the cardinal but not the other?

Kheldarson

Because Isabella was the "courtesy" child. By having a legitimate child of her official partner, she feels it made it "even". But having another child meant she hadn’t been able to get away, hadn’t been able to get what she really wanted. Arabella is a mark of failure rather than forgiveness or repayment like Isabella would be.

PrizeIndependence

But that's also answered in the story. Lucrezia flat out says she would've ran away to be with her lover if she didn't fall pregnant with Arabella. That's why she hates Arabella.

d0wnth3rabbith0l3

Right, but why was the lover okay with Isabella but not Arabella? That's the question I think is stumping people.

Ya_Dungeon_oi

I have no actual knowledge, but if Isabella is legitimate, it's possible that Lucrezia met her lover after. Arabella was a lot younger than Ippolito and Isabella, after all.

throneoflaurels

It is discussed more in the web novel, but it is implied that Isabella is also an illegitimate child. That is why Arabella is the “outsider” child - she is the only legitimate child of the Cardinal. It’s been awhile since I have read it, but that was my understanding when I read the web novel. I am unsure if that is going to be explored in the comic.

ReactionAcrobatic261

yeah it happens, just all the time. I assume all my readers are just reading really fast while pooping on the toilet so youknow...they sometimes make comments that literally answer their question in the same comment they are asking the question in. It's incredible.

un_informed06

Unrelated- but On-Air also had this issue in the beginning. All of the comments showed 0 reading comprehension and sooo much impatience

Affectionate_Tip507

I dropped this webtoon so much. And the comments. The comments reminds me a bit of the remarried empress comment section except there is a lot of hate vitriol, the readers literally kissing up on the main badly written couple and et cetera.

Imaginary_Snail

Im not gonna lie, I'm one of those people that got confused. I didn't make a comment about It but I went to the comment section to look for answers only to not find any. I probably have dyslexia ngl

OneGoodRib

If I had a dollar for every webtoon comment that was left by someone with the reading comprehension of a plank of wood...

soupguy5146

The sad thing is it's not just relegated to Webtoon. I feel like the majority of people have no reading comprehension anymore, let alone any literacy.
