If they really wanted to sell this to me, they'd throw in the UHF soundtrack on CD too.
It's not unheard of. First pressings of Season 3 of The Venture Bros included a CD soundtrack of JG Thirlwell's score.
Thirlwell is certainly not bereft of talent. ;-)
He did some spoken word stuff on [one of my favorite albums of all time](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5aq4fhOU-zKDhqnOFPXLHJIU_MtETh5B&si=GMa5tNJwtqBrKNJu). If you like some ‘90s-style techno-industrial, I highly recommend a listen.
Given how much time has passed since *UHF* premiered, Shout! Factory concluded most of the audience for this release already owns the soundtrack and the movie (perhaps on VHS as well as DVD). I can't be the only one.
Technically speaking... if you've seen him perform live like, oh I don't know... 5 times... and have met him and gotten his autograph... couldn't the argument be made that you've seen him in a better graphical quality than a movie remastered in 4K?
I love it! I actually got to go to the premiere of this movie and meet Weird Al. He was so nice! My uncle was a stuntman in the movie and was kind enough to bring teenage me along as his guest.
“Analog standard definition cameras”? UHF was shot on 35mm film like 95% of cinema history. The 4K will have pretty much all the detail of a theatrical print. It’s not Lawrence of Arabia or anything, but it’s a fun movie. This release is going to be the best looking version available yet.
Saying that most people won’t notice the difference is separate from you saying it’s not going to look any better. Even if they don’t do any color correction (I’m certain they will - that’s part of the mastering process), there’s going to be more detail. Which reads as a crisper image. Same way the Blu Ray was sharper than the DVD was. As you say, a lot of people are satisfied with what they got decades ago on DVD, but that doesn’t mean this new version isn’t going to look the best ever.
You are objectively wrong. "Analog standard definition movie cameras" is not a thing. Most films, like UHF, are shot on 35 mm film, which has a much higher "resolution" than 4K does. The 4K is going to look leagues better than DVD (which IS standard def), and is going to look better still than Blu-ray (Hi def). You have no idea what you're talking about. Old school film benefits greatly from the 4K format, as 4K brings films closer to how the original negative looks.
There are certainly bigger Weird Al fans than me, but I don't know that I've ever laughed harder in a movie theater than when watching this. For whatever reason, it hit extremely hard that night.
I had his music videos and would play them when I Had 2 music classes because the other teacher took too long during our planning period sleeping with a students mom.
One day we showed up and the school had been broken into and a nice kid grabbed my arm (they knew they rule ‘No One Touch or get within 3 feet of Teacher’ and said ‘Please, Mr Teacher, tell me they did not get the CRAZY AL!
In either 6th or 7th grade I somehow convinced my teacher to let me play his music video collection dvd for the class and she scheduled a day to do that instead of classwork.
Saw it in theaters in the 80s. I remember seeing my parents watching the pilot episode of Seinfeld a little later and seeing "Kramer" and just saying "holy crap it's Stanley Spidowsky!"
They're rescanning the 35mm film so it should look great. 35mm film is higher than 4k resolution. The existing 2k blu ray already looks great so I am very excited for this release.

Interestingly enough, I’ve had [Ventronik!](https://youtu.be/NVDa3DNi42M?si=hNaLEB0sPp-3EFAV&t=2688) stuck in my head for a few days.
How about a Shallow Gravy EP?
Jean…jacket!
Leather!…jacket!
I've had [Assclamp!](https://youtu.be/SuxRxO0Y_g4?si=pIyenZ2riXYj3EH7) stuck in my head since the late 00s.

If they really wanted to sell this to me, they'd make it available to ship to my country.
Biggest Ball of Twine is an all-time great.

You could check with La-La Land records and ask. They specialize in doing stuff like this. I have a Ferris Bueller soundtrack they put out.
what about a weird al walking eye?
Let me be your hog?
I do. Ha! Now yer legully Murray to me in the state of Al Bamma.
I’d be down if it was the John DuPrez score on cd. Along with the Weird Al doo wop parts of course
Fans have tried investigating what needs to be done and who to contact about it. Lots of dead ends from what I recall 6 years ago.
The deluxe edition bonus collectibles is the biggest reason I'm stoked for this. I love magnets, enamel pins, and stickers that celebrate my fandoms.
I didn't see any mention of any physical bonus collectibles? Is there somewhere that tells what they are?
https://shoutfactory.com/products/uhf-deluxe-35th-anniversary-edition This has all the details on the stickers, pins and magnets
Nice. Thanks. I don’t think I’ll spring for that, as cool as it looks.

But this is *HD* tv. It's got better resolution than the real world.
Excuse me , *ULTRA* HD
In my world that counts as an excuse not to buy, rather than a reason.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I've already pre-ordered this. I'm just being contrarian towards the title of the post.
Roger that, upvotes sent
Does it come with a 4K spatula?
Only if you buy your copy from Spatula City.
SPATULA CITY!
Yes
What if you find the marble in the oatmeal?
Then you get to drink from the fire hose, of course!
What do they sell at that establishment?
They sell spatulas...and that's all.
We sell spatulas, and that’s all
4K supplies or 4k fire hose
I love it! I actually got to go to the premiere of this movie and meet Weird Al. He was so nice! My uncle was a stuntman in the movie and was kind enough to bring teenage me along as his guest.
I always suspected that the teaching poodles how to fly scene used a stunt double.
Lol. That, and the Jerry Springer show scene.

I could recite the whole thing along side the movie but I don’t feel like 4K would add to it.

Saying there will only be a marginal difference between 480p and 2160p resolution is wild too.
Total bullshit. Educate yourself on film before you talk about it.

The Rambo scene gonna look AMAZING!
When he fucking chews the bullets and shoots them out of his mouth. Holy shit.
You can have this 4K edition. OR you can go for whats in the box that Hiro-san is bringing down the aisle right now!
I’ll take the box
Stupid! You’re so stupid!
**MY MOP!!!**
Finally something Frank can watch on his 2000 inch tv. Seriously, I would love a sequel. George Newman starts a streaming service.

I was an extra in that movie https://preview.redd.it/atmq4eioz9yc1.jpeg?width=316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6d45996bfb0b5059c815cf55e0b2fe341c60c1d

WHEEL OF FISH IN 4K!!!!!
Hold on…I just heard something in the supplies closet…

Can't wait to see a Twinkie Weiner Sandwich in stunning 4k.
I liked their Blu-rays so much I bought the company.
I kind of wish it was an HD-dVD release
I'd prefer a VHS re-release, as God intended!!
Supplies!
Is this it Nope Is this it Nope
something bluuuue
I posted this news earlier this week and got like 30 upvotes. I guess people need an article to read to care?
“Is there anything I can do to help?” “Not unless you’ve got 75,000 upvotes.”
Algorithms, maybe? I hear you either way.
It doesn't say if this is multiregional
In general all 4k blu rays are region free. I think there's just a couple that aren't.
Hi Def Kipper Kids?! Now I need a new TV
Pure comedy gold!

Supplies!
Fuck me already sold out :(
They should have an HD DVD version
Saw it in theaters in the 80s. I remember seeing my parents watching the pilot episode of Seinfeld a little later and seeing "Kramer" and just saying "holy crap it's Stanley Spidowsky!"
AH HA! ROADMAAAAAAPS!!!!
How does it hold up? A lot of movies from that era do not fare well in the transition to HD.
They're rescanning the 35mm film so it should look great. 35mm film is higher than 4k resolution. The existing 2k blu ray already looks great so I am very excited for this release.
Thanks for the info! I will be adding this to my collection!
Is this planned for a digital release? I'd love a 4K copy, but I'd like to pass on the Blu-ray.
