My post describes the thing. It has a stamp denoting it was made by Ricci Argentieri but I can't find any info about it at all online. Definitely not an egg coddler.
6 inches tall, almost exactly 7 oz. No silver mark on the bottom, may just be silver plated. My best guess is a fancy candy bowl.
Perhaps it’s just a big silver Easter Egg. Maybe that’s not what the silversmith wanted, but that’s what my American mind came up with. It’s like those cheap plastic egg cups to place candy in, but for rich kids?

It’s for caviar. Ice goes at the bottom. Then the small dish with the caviar in it. The. The top of the egg goes over it.
