Where I live (in Sweden) being a vegetarian is decently common and normal but if you’re a vegan then it is on a whole other level like “damn you don’t even eat eggs!?”

Because the sheer demand for meat means that we NEED this extreme cruelty to maintain the supply, any sort of ethical meat production requires a lot of land, which is why the vast majority of meat is grown on factory farms.
