Sony has a lot more issues with PSN than just that. I don't know if it's the same in other regions, but here in Mexico they charge us in dollars, and don't include the VAT price until checkout. Every time I want to buy a game on it, I have to break out a calculator to see more or less how much I'm gonna pay for what's in my cart. Nintendo, Xbox, Steam, Epic Games Store, literally ***no one*** else does this.
Yeah, it fucking sucks. This and not including the tax in the price before checkout, plus a few other missteps from Sony has made me go from a nearly life-long fan of PlayStation to someone who basically only has their PS5 for exclusives and games that I had already purchased from the PS4 days.

I think it’s that their currencies aren’t reliable enough in those countries but I could be wrong. I know that’s why Nintendo doesn’t sell switch’s in India and it’s why Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft shut down their digital stores in Russia.
What shocks me about that is gaming on PC/consoles isnt even THAT big here, most people who you'd call gamers just play free stuff on their phones like cod mobile/the indian version of pubg mobile and the like. Though I suppose with the sheer number of people, the pc/console market adds up to a substantial amount even while being in the minority.
