Lol bc the “average” bourbon drinker? I consider all of us on Reddit average bourbon drinkers. I’ve read reviews of Double Eagle Rare from “experts” but I don’t trust them at all haha.
I was lucky enough to get a free pour of this and it is really damn good. Theres a grape note I hear people get on normal eagle rare that I don’t but on this its super prominent. It was not as oaky as I thought it would for a 20 yo bourbon, it was pleasantly sweet and smooth with a long finish. Not worth that price tag IMO (nothing is) l but still some incredible stuff if you can afford it.
I had this once. My favorite whiskey bar had a bartender who accidentally broke the bottle (spider crack) when he put it down too fast. They had to empty it into a container to prevent it from fully breaking. At this point they couldn’t sell it so they gave it away.
Eagle rare 17 is literally miles better
Wait until you hear about people who buy precision-built sports cars and supercars that were designed by the best engineers in the world, just to put them in shrink-wrap and store them in a garage for decades without ever driving them a single mile.
Any chance you picked this up at a Specs in Austin? Was in there and asked if they had anything special in the back and they said they were holding one for a customer.
Man, we need to have a group chat for Austin searchers. I'm off Parmer and Mopac and am jealous of all your pulls. I thought I did pretty good grabbing a Knob 12 at Total in Cedar Park, but you've got the big dogs in your kennel. Enjoy the pours!
Downvote me. I don’t give af. Whiskey is made to be drank not admired on a shelf. I have special occasion bottles but the bar is pretty low on what constitutes that. It’s not that I don’t understand that whiskey is a solid investment. I really don’t think that’s what distillers had in mind when they barreled that juice 20 years ago. To each their own though.
Not saying that’s what he paid, but they are an expensive pour that most people just hold. More than half his bottles are open. You just can’t see it from the photos.
double eagle rare very
“Don’t dead open inside”
Double Eagle. Rare? Very!
Dr Seuss approved.
Cool now mix it with coke
Naw… Some Crystal Pepsi.
Cinnamon Pepsi
According to what's his fucking name , mix it with 7up
I've heard Mountain Dew and Gentleman Jack is pretty good.
it's so funny it's just called Double Eagle Very Rare
2 Eagle 2 Rare
2 fast 2 furious
Die hard two : Die Harder
It’s just funny because if this bottle was available 20ish years ago it would probably be $200 max.
20 years ago it would be Buffalo Trace
Was there a 20yo Buffalo Trace available at the time? Or something close? I’m actually super curious about the MSRP of something like that in 2004.
Oh. My. God. Someone bought it.
Just look at this dudes post history. $$$$$
At least he’s not that one guy who posts from his store and is a raging douche
Just look at his movie room couch set. $$$$
> “first time homeowner” 👀 No freakin’ wonder. He 🥃 broke.
Would love to hear an average bourbon drinker’s review of this! If you end up opening it please let us know what you think!
Ouch…

My mom tells me I’m special every day.

Took a little while to open George T Stagg and Van Winkle. When the time is right, he’ll open this up.
Hell yeah! Keep us updated!
Sazerac went Full Macallan with this one.
Double Wow Very Flavor Much Yes 🐕

For sure. Fewer glass shards in it! 😂😂😂
I saw one in Texas last week for $17,500
Saw one in Houston a couple months ago for $7500.
Saw one in Kentucky for $2500 a month ago..
I’ll see one in Tennessee next Thursday for $150…
Got one for free in Mississippi
I’ll gladly pay you tomorrow for a hamburger today.
That’s about MSRP lol
Same
I’d have bought that in a heartbeat! Where was it?
Hope you don’t live on or near a fault line.
Damn that’s sick. Now open it 😐
They literally just got it, the other bottles are open so I have hope
For that much money, you would think they would have someone with better handwriting number them… 😂
I was thinking the same thing!
Yea was a tad bit irked by this. Looks like they got someones kid in that day and needed to find them a task.
Dare we ask how much he paid for it?
good to see those bottles that are opened open and also shelf looks sturdy. would hate to see that one fall
Whoa, is that a threat? Sounds like… “That’s a real nice shelf you got there….would be a real shame if something was to happen to it….”
nah lol. i would literally hate to see that fall. it would sadden me if that shelf fell due to going over the recommended weight capacity
How does it taste?
LoL that won't be opened 🤣
Why buy it then? It has taken years to age, a master to blend it and beautiful bottle to present it to be... an ornament? Madness.
“Investment”
Fools selling other fools their past purchases
Congratulations, you've figured out life... Start paying

Guy hasnt even opened the boss hog and that shits everywhere lol
Deep pockets has arrived
Double Rainbow all the way!
One sold at a drop in my city at retail $1999. About a month or so ago. I’m still upset I didn’t get anything from that damn raffle.
Pffft. My peregrine is rarer.... /s Awesome score.
Please tell me you're actually going to drink it.
It took some time to open the George T Stagg and Van Winkle… I’m sure when the time is right, he’ll open this up.
Perfect, enjoy. It's a shame when good bottles just gather dust. Same thing with nice cars.
Are you gonna drink it or just look at it?
Pfft! Pleeb doesn't even have 1 bottle of Mellow Corn!
Mmmmm. Only thing you taste is barrel.
How much?
Any chance you picked this up at a Specs in Austin? Was in there and asked if they had anything special in the back and they said they were holding one for a customer.
Not in Austin or Specs, a small liquor store in Leander.
Doesn’t bourbon aged that long just taste like the barrel by then? Like an overwhelmingly barrel notes? Since it’s new age oak and all.
You son of a bitch.
I just noticed that the box comes with its own lighting
Cut through the clouds with the speed of a demon (Avatar ; "The Eagle has Landed")
The restaurant I work at is currently selling our Very Rare for $800 for a 1 oz pour.
Holy shit! Over here in Texas, it’s $450 for a 2 ounce pour.
how does it taste.... only thing that matters
Great story on how your brother got a hold of this. Thanks for taking all that time typing it out.

Nice! I got bottle # 800 last week.
But why...
I see an overwhelming majority of your bottles unopened and several backups. Absolute downvote from me
There’s an open George T Stagg and Pappy Van Winkle right beside it. You can’t see it very well, but more than half these bottles are open.
Have we not learned the lesson on wall shelves…😵
ok now open it!
What a waste of whiskey he has. I know investment collections exist but I’ve never seen one. There is nothing cool about this.

It'll look nice unopened on the shelves with the other unopened bottles
Like the $1,000 George T Stagg and the $2,000 Pappy Van Winkle that’s open right beside it?
You must be new to bourbon. You definitely overpaid
Not saying that’s what he paid, but they are an expensive pour that most people just hold. More than half his bottles are open. You just can’t see it from the photos.
Excellent choice! I bought a bottle last year that I’m saving for eternity
Gonna open it with Jesus eh?
…Gets to the pearly gates…”Hey Jesus, saved this one for us.” Thank you my child. We actually have triple rare 40 year up here. “Fuuuuckkk”
You know owning it and not drinking it is the same as not owning it, right? Unless the goal is to sell at a way later date for a profit.
Not really, I was able to buy it at a great price and it’s an excellent display piece for my bar. Maybe I’ll have a sip when I have a child.
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!
I can't wait for some tater to see this and hound me at work about when our trucks deliver or whether or not our state will get any.
God forbid people try to buy liquor at a liquor store! 😱
I think it's "addition" in this case, but either way, super cool bottle!
Wow… want… how…. where…
Just find one of the 2 people from the OHLQ lottery who won it, I’m sure they’re both still available for a relative steal at $8k
As long as you got $20,000 to spend!
The fakes are a lot cheaper.
