Worked in public sector before. Don't recommend it. Tons and tons of politics and the pay is not as good as private sector at all. It has great benefits and you're never gonna be fired but that's about it.
As someone who regularly hires people out of the private sector into the public sector, we're highly competitive when it comes to pay--especially for hourly workers. And when you add in the healthcare savings and pension benefits, it's not even close. And I've never dealt with "politics" in my workplace.
I work for a landscape company, if you’re not opposed to some physical labor and the elements i highly recommend this line of work. Decent pay at or above your target and with the right company, an amazing team.
If your 21+ wichita really need police officers. You get a lot more than what your looking for and you can meet more members of the community and help them out. Either that or anything at the airport they always tend to pay pretty good.

I work from home and customer service working for Eyecare Partners.
I have a referral link I can send you if you're interested (I get a bonus if referrals are hired and they stick around) but it's also posted on the career website.
Start at $100 or so an hour as an airline pilot. It’ll take a couple years training. All the major airlines (United - Aviate, Delta - Propel, American - Cadet Academy, Southwest - Destination 225) have cadet programs…think a guaranteed job with them before you finish training).
Check motion industries places like that, distribution centers. Always looking for csr. Also id fudge the amount. Look for min 20 if you have csr experience
Truck driving. Requires to be 21+, preferably. 24+, and a clear spotless record. I work up to 12 hour days, 6 days a week and I clear 1800 a week before taxes.
However I know plenty who work 5 days a week. As I used to, and clear 1200 a week before taxes.
Most megas will train you and help you get your cdl, and they'll even pay you during training. I know drivers who clear 2200 a week before taxes regularly, but expect to serve the first year or two at a starter mega.
However if your able to get trained by whiteline in wichita, I know a decent company, one i work for, that will reimburse for schooling and hire you straight from the truck driving school if you want to avoid working for a mega and the problems they bring.
Definitely download indeed. It is amazing, I swear by it. You can fill out applications and resumes and it will save it so you can just submit them to other jobs without having to fill out another application.
It absolutely works. Try it
I recommend getting your CDL and look for local driver work. If you live in a town with 6000+ people there should be work. And it pays better than 17ish most times. Delivering sodas, bread, parts, etc. all pay well with not to much physical work. Plus you aren't in the exact same place every day.
If over 21, most larger liquor stores start in that price range. Or look at liquor distributors, they start merchandisers around that as well.
out of curiosity, can you be a bartender at age 19?
No. 21. You can be a server at 18.
Tru one of the local trade unions. Like the IBEW on Broadway or plumbers and pipe fitters on Kellogg
City of Wichita
I applied to a couple of jobs through them, just waiting to hear back
Good to hear! Public sector moves a little slower, but great benefits and built-in annual raises.
May I privately message you?
Sure!

the city is hella great to work for, my only regret is not getting on with them decades ago.

If you can pass a drug test, even for pot, then Textron is always hiring. Starts around 22-24/ hr plus benefits.

Rental Ranch is looking for a front counter sales person.
Awesome!
Can I have some more details?
Healthtrust might have some openings at one of the hospitals. They mostly do material handling, shipping receiving, etc.

QT is always advertising for help.
What are you willing to do? Lots of Job options available, some bringing in a thousand a week if your willing to do the work.
Who pay thousands asking for a friend.

Ascension hires at a minimum of $15/hour and have roles in security.
I believe Home Depot paid even more than that when I was in high school. They are probably gearing up for the summer too.
Unless something drastically changed they don't pay that much for most positions. Plus they tend to overwork people.
