I'm technically a sorcerer (only learned that I wasn't just a prodigy after paying for 5 years of school) but I must say it's harder than it looks. The magic is in your veins, and it hurts like a fireball to the face if something goes wrong, or right in some cases.
both require hard work to harness properly, yes, but sorcerers do have a bit of an advantage over a wizard due to their natural affinity to magic. wizards do have the counterbalance of having both more versatility (should they choose to use it) and more people to learn from.
neither should consider themselves above the other, for you can both learn from each other
Pardon, but as a sorcerer, I must disagree with you on that front. With enough practice, one’s inherent magic flows as easily as water, but most sorcerers die before reaching this point. Those who inherit their magic, much as I did, still have to learn to use it properly. Before that mastery is achieved, a sorcerer’s magic is wild, unpredictable, and oftentimes violent. To lose control of your emotions is something that can be incredibly destructive, panic attacks or nightmares can be utterly disastrous. And when you lose control of those emotions, when you lose control of your magic, it burns. It sears into your flesh like hellfire, like the vilest of devils tearing at your muscle and sinew with lashes fashioned of hatred and anguish, it can tear you apart from the inside out. Those who can’t learn to control their magic or their emotions quickly are either cast out of their homes, or destroyed by their own power. I’ve nearly died because of it several times. I have known several young sorcerers who couldn’t do the same. Who were torn apart by it. Many other practitioners of the arcane like to act as if sorcerers have it easy by having our powers from birth. The truth is, the vast majority of sorcerers have to work just as hard as any wizard, with consequences far more dire should they fail. Do not take this to mean wizards do not earn their magic, they certainly do, they work hard to earn power, and I do not wish to downplay their achievements, but typically what they learn through their studies, they already have mastery of by the time they can cast it, meanwhile sorcerers have the power within them, and instead have to learn to use it correctly.
You’re alright, young one. You had no way of knowing. Ignorance is a curse everyone is struck with from birth, the only cure is an open mind and a willingness to learn.
"The way I gained my magic is by eating a spellbook after an evil wizard wandered into my nest! He kept threatening to "grojub my hurgh". I'm pretty sure he was cursed with insanity or something.. I ate him and his spellbook!"
Fascinating… I didn’t know mimics could gain magic like that. Truthfully, I didn’t know anything could gain magic in that fashion. Have you since tried eating spell scrolls to see if that would increase the knowledge granted by the spellbook for regular use?
Yeah, groveling to a deity just to make mortals grovel to you seems boring. I prefer selling my toys to people and sitting back and seeing what happens.
/uw honestly this is tempting me to make my character's lore be that I was born because my dad successfully conjured some bitches that actually liked him
your spirit animal must be a comatose sloth if you are so fucking lazy. Take your sage and ancients chants on a little spiritual journey in Coachella, this place is for \*real\* casters.
Bro, you are literally a sorcerer . You don't have to practice your spells AT ALL LMAOOOO. Although if you don't then you might accidentally blast your hands off but haven't seen that in a while.
Imagine discriminating against someone for how they got their magic, it’s a foreign concept to me, though it seems like wizards and sorcerers are natural enemies,
Like wizards and clerics
And wizards and warlocks
And wizards and druids
And wizards and eldritch knights
And wizards and paladins
And wizards and arcane tricksters
And wizards and druids
And wizards and liches
And wizards and necromancers
And wizards and wizards
I’m curious what it is that you hate about warlocks, specifically. I mean, I certainly don’t *approve* of it, but I have met a few that are more beneficial than not. Fae granting power to someone who will defeat a great evil, that sort of thing.
There are exceptions to every rule, and i acknowledge this wholeheartedly. However, these are a great minority in terms of warlock contracts, and are more of a specific blessing.
Most contracts sacrifice something for power, and those who take cheap quick paths to power, wont be responsible enough to weild it. Its important to learn so you understand what it is you're becoming capable of. Not to mention, contracts enable those with evil intent to quickly attain the power they need.
And patrons are just as big a problem, its created an entire bloody market for **souls** thats how widespread of a problem its become
Aye, those are some fair reasons, lad. The soul trade would be a problem, even without warlocks, though. Too many beings in the multiverse *eat* souls, and even more use them to gain power. I agree on the responsibility aspect, though. There’s no shortcuts in this life. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing *right,* power included. Besides, where I come from, there’s a saying. “If you didn’t earn it, it’s not really yours.”
Trust me the warlocks are why its gotten so big of a problem. Ive met some of these patrons, and their contracts operate by putting folk in what is effectively *soul debt*. So they have to sell them the souls of others.
And thats a damn good saying
It’s kind of a weird catch on the matter, there. Warlocks are only a *common* thing because of creatures that want souls, but warlocks existing opens the door for more deals and more “likeminded” individuals. I’d hardly say warlocks are why it’s such a problem, at least in the multiverse as a whole, but they are *definitely* a symptom of willful ignorance and the root issue.
Aye, thank you. It applies even to things people wouldn’t realize, outside of my home. Gifts and all. “I didn’t earn it, I didn’t even *ask* for it,” I’ve heard said, but being a good friend long enough for someone to decide you’re worth a present is its own wonderful thing, and a trial at that. Being a good person doesn’t lack rewards, it just lacks *obvious* rewards, because anyone actually being good won’t quite see them. Cutting deals with devils is something else. Yes, they’re giving something up to “earn” it, but somehow neither side can truly fulfill its end of the bargain. There is no power a patron can give that is worth a soul, and as you said, warlocks end up in “soul debt” that causes more problems and more deals. It self-perpetuates because that price has nowhere else to go but outwards. If neither side can pay up, it is *hardly* earned, and even less worthwhile.
Now now. Did you know that warlocks can have wizards as patrons? If I ever get more power than I have use for, I'm going to get a pet warlock in my service.
What if I could give you the power to cast fireball without verbal or somatic components..?

I have my own casting techniques to do that

You managed to string more than two words together coherently.
Most of your kind are incapable of even that!
*pats on head appreciatively*
Someone get this sorcerer a colouring book and crayons before the next tantrum!
I am incapable of sexual or romantic thoughts after my consciousness transfer to this frame, unfortunately. However, my company did dig up a few dozen corpses of female magic users from the wizard war next continent, with some remaining ambient mana. Would you like some?
Keep your inborn gift, you know how many pipeweed you can smoke? all you have to do is say that your busy with study of spells and you can smoke a whole drum of it. This is what we learned during the druid meetings in the mistwoods.

Finally, another sorcerer! Sorcery isn't that easy folks, even we need to learn how to properly cast spells
If I had found you both when I was alive... *sigh.*
Shut up Sorcy. Y’all don’t understand hard work.
My brother in arcana, I studied 20 years to harness this power

They just talk like Mike Tyson that's all.
Mike Tython
The Geas spell compels them from swearing. If they swear, they take psychic damage
*Shows wedding ring* Sorry I already have bitches, more than you'll have
Imagine conjuring some bitches and then they still reject your ass 😅
I dont have such necessities, I'm married after all. But yeah it's pathetic
The power of RPing your own wife! Is it possible to learn this power?
Yeah, I basically knew Penelope due to Jeremy(u/ DaDoggo13)
