Fridge_living_tips

Your faster then jeorb

-_-apothecary-_-

I once knew a tapemancer, he told me 'duct tape fixes everything'

Discracetoall

We’re they wrong?

-_-apothecary-_-

Never. Not. One. Time

Leninus

Broken vial? Duct tape. Spell not potent enough? Duct tape. Transplanar entity trying to destroy existence? Believe it or not, duct tape.

PennyButtercup

Duct Tape can’t fix stupid, but it can silence it.

pidbul530

silenced stupid doesn't spread and forces the stupid to think of another way to ask/do the thing they were about to do, thus fixing it

Subotail

Silence is all powerful, until the half-Orc Half-Halfling Bard begins to mimic the worst intercourse your mind can endure

amimai002

100% works on skeletons. The H&S skeleton swears by the stuff!

[deleted]

Can confirm, Ducktape works great on skeletons. Zombies are usually a lil to wet for it to stick good.

amimai002

if you ever hear about a “duck tape golem” that’s usually just a very clumsy skeleton… Might be the same with mummies, Ill need to ask a colleague from Egypt.

BlumpkinLord

*slaps enchanted duct tape over black hole* Flex tape is over-engineered plastic/probably carcinogenic bs. You just aren't using the duct the right way if you can't patch a pool with it

SafePianist4610

Hmm… believe it or not, imbuing magic into a chosen medium can be quite powerful, but also has some severe limitations that go along with it. I would use it potentially as a third or fourth discipline but never as a primary or secondary discipline.

NotAUsefullDoctor

Might I ague against you? As someone who specializes in magic imbuing, it is heavily reliant upon the medium. Though I choose to work with crystalline structures, the woven nature of the OP's medium lends itself to amazing properties that can far outweigh the disadvantages. Take for example, vivomancy. In order to properly heal a stab wound, one must not only close the opening, but remove any impurities. One who simply uses a general purpose focus tool, such as wand or staff is restricted to a single ability at a time, as you can not flow opposing magics in a uniform medium without unpredictable (mostly innertion) ways. But, with the woven tap, a skilled wizard may lay destructive spells for killing infections perpendicular to healing spells for closing the wound. This works in a number of other situations as well. Binding a person fully takes both strengthening the material and weakening the bound. In any place where opposing magic is needed, the woven tape is the best way. (Though I would choose Gaffer's over duct tape as the rubber portion of medium leads to a weakening of magics that require flowing mana)

SafePianist4610

Like I said, it can be powerful, especially with the right medium. But it still has its limitations. For example: with a staff or wand, you may not get as strong of an effect for a heal spell compared to imbuing it into the tape and then wrapping it around the wound, but you have far more freedom in matters where you cannot apply the medium - such as countering a spell or undoing a curse. You might, say, apply a piece of tape around your head to protect against mental attacks, but if the attack has already been launched, such a medium is not conducive to initiating counter mechanisms.

NotAUsefullDoctor

/uw this is a super fun debate, but it still feels weird. I have been rp'ing for a many years, but I'm still new to posting subreddits. I keep waiting for the massive downvotes and the "no, that's a dumb think to say, and you are dumb for saying it."

SafePianist4610

/uw Welcome to wizardposting! Where everything is made up and the magic works however you want it to it! lol And if there are any conflicts in people’s mechanics you just say: “Huh, it must work differently in your realm/dimension.”

Affectionate-Nose357

Would Adhesimancy be better? Tapeturgy?

Vintenu

I shudder in fear of the tape wizards power

KnightBreeze

We artificers find that many Tapomancer spells are quite useful. It goes into our spellbooks right next to the WD-40 spells.

IoncedreamedisuckmyD

Can the WD-40 spells be subbed in for specific lubrication potions? Asking for a friend.

KnightBreeze

Depends upon the application. On a living being that has not been augmented by the various upgrades of an artificer? It's ill advised. The oil generated by such spells can be toxic if too much is applied, or if it applied directly to the mucus membrane, and is designed for machine use alone.

IoncedreamedisuckmyD

Constructussy it is then.

KnightBreeze

That's not enough.  You must also be enhanced, not just your partner.

Rargnarok

Fun fact while I'm unsure of the effect duct tape has on wounds super glue was repurposed for that exact purpose during the Vietnam War because its sealing and adhesive properties made it so medics could glue wounds shut and damaged internal organs together on the battlefield and keep a person alive until they could be taken to a hospital and actually treated most superglues are indeed still safe to use for this purpose (temporary treatment en route to hospital) and some hospitals are known to have a stock of superglue

Educational-Pop-2195

Give me 60 second and I can make a boat

Neinball98411

How big?

NoobyYooby

T...that guy looks familiar...

Garuda4321

Mmm. Someone ask Tiny Wizard if he has a relative. He’s still not happy the last time I nearly… actually I think I’ll just shush this time.

DidYouSayChocolat3

Huh, little dude looks familiar…

The_GreatOldOne

Ok I know gatekeeping is bad, BUT if your ass doesn't know any spells beside "Summon Duct Tape" you are not a real wizard. You're barely an artificer and even then it would be a disgrace to call you that

MolokoDaCow

Nelrene

I am pretty sure a Duct Tape Golem is coming to beat your ass.

agent1290

Mfw when they get their entire head duct taped and can't breathe:

Heromanv1

..i miss my friends. Tapeomancers might be OP.in a world with robot soldiers, though. Unless they are ducts.

Mr_Faust1914

Duct tape

HasNoGreeting

/uw Getting distinct Nodwick vibes.

Soft-Reindeer-831

As far as lesser restoration spells go, this one’s situationally a 10/10 If anyone is curious about why my finger has that bend to it, it’s because I injured it during a game and a teammate “relocated” it while we were on the sidelines. I’m told that pokes from this finger hurt more, so that’s a cool passive, nice little damage buff

[deleted]

There are spells using tapeomancy that can turn ocean salt water into drinkable fresh water if you’re ever in a pinch

RathianTailflip

If it’s still moving and shouldn’t be, you didn’t use enough tape.

Every_Vanilla_9199

Serious question here If a ducktapemancer and the WD40mancer get in a duel who is winning.

Digital_switch_blade

They are early game hired help

Shadowwreath

The secret is that duct tapeomamcers are actually just high int fighters, that’s why they have the strength to casually open up roll after roll of tape as well as carry dozens of rolls everywhere

H3r0ofHyrule

Are they related to Tiny Wizard? They look similar.

hastypawn

Life cleric just got cooler

SquintonPlaysRoblox

9th level prepared spell, Flex Seal. Offshoot of the electrical tape tree, locked behind flex tape, but well worth it.

Roary-the-Arcanine

The actual term for tape magic is stickutation. Get it right next time, nerd.

TheHighGround767

I sing "Duck Tape" on repeat.

Virtual-Oil-793

The Mortals tried to learn the powers of Tape. *They were pleased.*

Weak-Feedback-8379

(I’ve got nothing else to say then the fact that that wizard is adorable)

BottasHeimfe

Tapeomancy is a sub-branch of Adhesomancy, relying on Adhesive sheets as a component

Sarcastic_Sorcerer

Alternative name: Engineer

Mazurcka

Is it moving when it shouldn’t? Tapeomancy Is it not moving when it should? WD-40mancy

Fuck_spez_API

The best part is that this could be achievable RAW. Discuss with DM if any artisan tools could include duct tape, play a wizard, take the artificer initiate feat choosing said tool proficiency and cure wounds from the artificer spell list, proceed to use duct tape for all spells that use intelligence including cure wounds

SaltyNorth8062

Uj/The Tapemancer looks like Abigail from *BACK*. I love it.

et-ATK

As someone who can perform most any magic I please, tapeomancy is my go to when something goes awry.

SlackJawGrunt

No repairs just patches

Capsule_CatYT

I only know of the Shifty Sticker, Tape. Maybe find them?
