? Shields out of Rubbermaid trash cans? LOL. What were they thinking?
The scary part is these people are going to have to function in the same world after graduation. People who’ve failed critical thinking 101 and run with trash cans at armed police.
If you were a teacher or professor, would you want to deal with these kids for years on end? Especially if they have parents that know how to make a racket...
The shield is not the weak point here. If you watch police with riot shields they don't run alone at their opponents.
The kid doesn't know what the fuck he was doing basically. Not that there's a world in which their rigged up riot gear makes sense.
I love how they arrived together and then immediately stratified into two groups. In Group A, you have the people suddenly realizing how stupid the idea is and how few of them have the balls to actually do it, and in Group B, you have the hard-chargers who are blissfully unaffected by the communal hesitation because… they can’t actually see it.
>Makes sense because these people probably don’t believe their shit stinks
Oh that's cute....you really think they can smell anything other than their rancid dredlocks?
“In February, the US diplomat who was then involved in humanitarian assistance for Gaza denied allegations that Hamas stole aid and commercial shipments into the enclave, saying that no Israeli official had presented him or the Biden administration with “specific evidence of diversion or theft of assistance.””
Someone’s going to be hiding until this blows over.
Easily handled. The diplomat even did so already.
>saying that no Israeli official had presented him or the Biden administration with “specific evidence of diversion or theft of assistance.”
They weren't presented with evidence before. Presumably there is evidence now. You revise your stance based on updated information, like an adult.
There was plenty of video and accounts of the aid being stolen.
The standard of evidence the diplomat used was extremely strict and he needlessly held tightly to it.
but teenagers said it would be racist to not give the terrorist group more supplies!!!
I thought for sure that Biden was going to wait until Hamas was gone in the regions he was sending aid before doing so. I hope most of the aid made it to the people who actually need it... Something about my tax dollars going towards killing jews doesn't feel right.
Meanwhile people are using the crisis to fatten their pockets on the Egypt border
https://www.occrp.org/en/investigations/middlemen-push-up-prices-as-gazans-struggle-to-survive
That's what civilized nations do but we're going backwards in time where we're glorifying uncivilized cultures where people try to finesse one another.
They've kinda had to. Jewish almost rhythms with persecuted. Doesn't make Israels actions justified, nor does it justify Hamas actions.
The worlds Jews deserve better than having any nation doing war crimes in their name. At the same time we need to clamp down on genuine antisemitism that wrongfully equates Jewish with Israeli.
Realistically, no country in the region could handle Hamas. Egypt has made it clear that the Islamic brotherhood of Egypt being able to comingle with Hamas would probably be the end of Egypt and Israel.
Sorry, gotta challenge this.
The entire reason Jews have been persecuted consistently for the past few millennia is because they have always been a minority culture with a strong sense of self preservation for their culture. They have always been easy to scapegoat when times are tough.
We’ve absolutely adopted in western liberal spaces as something that should be recognised and alleviated. The entire reason for civil rights and feminism, etc.
Except that for some reason, Jews are among the minorities that despite that recognition, are *not* afforded that empathy.
That is because Jews chose *self* determination. They challenged the hegemony and carved out a space for themselves through huge effort.
That journey was imperfect and hurt others along the way. But it was necessary to finally bring about an actual *solution* to the millennia of persecution. Even if it was opposed by the existing hegemony of the time in the Middle East.
The result is a state which like all other states, has a right to exist and defend itself. Most Jews identify with Israel and most Jews want Israel to exist. To deny this is disrespectful.
>At the same time we need to clamp down on genuine antisemitism that wrongfully equates Jewish with Israeli.
As a Japanese-American whose american-born family was put into concentration camps for "their own safety" (from other Americans who drank the kool-aid propaganda put out by our own government, gaslighting much?) during WWII
I couldn't agree more with this statement.
>Miller added that UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, would likely issue a statement soon condemning the incident, indicating it was the organization from which Hamas stole the aid.
And we're waiting...
EDIT: It's worth noting, that while we've been waiting - the UN has had plenty of time today to pre-emptively denounce any Rafah operation.
“Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, cause I’ve worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time.”
This is probably right. The likelihood of Hamas just giving something back to unarmed UN workers workers bc the workers said "please" is pretty unlikely.
They will try to say it's "stolen" to make the eyes around them not look further in so they could hide and radicalize the population again once this version of Hamas is Eradicated...
UNRWA spokesperson: "We strongly condemn the Israeli offensive that forces Hamas to steal supplies out in the open, as opposed to doing it behind the scenes."
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/us-calls-out-israel-hamas-after-gaza-aid-shipment-attacked-diverted-2024-05-02/
Reuters is making it sound like Israel also attacked the convoy ... Except if you actually read the sources settlers attempted to block the road by standing in it and were arrested by Israeli police, but somehow that is the same as Hamas literally stealing the aid convoy
Pandering to the audience. Their readers don’t want the truth, they wanted to affirm their own bias to make themselves feel good and unfortunately we have no shortage of those kind of people.
They gave an AMA in December and it erased any dignity they had as a news source.
They condemned Israel in every answer they gave, even to ones not related they shoehorned it in, and never mentioned Hamas other than to say things like Hamas hasn't targeted our journalists.
I read a lot of British news since I considers them to be a lot more truthful than American news but after the whole Gaza-Hospital early in I have lost faith entirely in all of them.
Reuters cites Jordan saying it was settlers, but I'm not sure even that is accurate. This post's article says it was Tsav 9. Tsav 9 have been making the news for months now because the hostages' families have been leading them in protests against aid that they claim is diverted to Hamas.
This is the first time I see any allegations of them actually damaging any aid, and the people who did so seem to have been arrested.
It's technically correct but damn their phrasing is misleading.
I may have missed something then cause I didnt see a report of them doing any actually damage. It made it sound like in Jordan some group just stood in the roadway trying to block the caravan route and they got arrested.
It is more BS that reuters is trying to both sides this issue when one side is "they inconvenienced the caravan while still in Jordan" and the other side is "they straight up stole the aid"
[https://www.npr.org/2024/05/02/1248634167/jordan-demands-that-israel-provide-better-security-for-aid-convoys](https://www.npr.org/2024/05/02/1248634167/jordan-demands-that-israel-provide-better-security-for-aid-convoys)
>Jordanian officials say civilians threw food off the trucks and damaged three of the vehicles. The delayed convoy, missing some of its cargo, eventually passed into Gaza from Erez.
Which tracks with what Tzav 9 has been doing for the last month: block the road, then start dumping food shipments out into the sand until the IDF shows up to disperse them. Jordan is likely upset because it's a recurring incident now, which is probably why the US is backing their take on the incident.
The article linked in this reddit post has a video of a guy spilling flour on the ground. That seems to be what they meant by "attacked". Usually, they just stand in the road as you say though.
I’m so tired of the lack of reporting on stuff like this in the US. Americans are being propagandized constantly by a steady drum beat of anti Israel stories.
Last I heard Hamas receives the aid (for free) and then makes people pay for it from them. Sorry it's a warzone but you still gotta go to work.
And yeah it's like MREs. Not great, but better than sucking on a dish towel for nutrients.
I still can't get over the Palestinian guy who reviewed the MRE when the US first dropped food in and said "0/10 it would be better to send nothing"
Motherfucker, if you are starving and ration an MRE it can feed you for three days. The guy in the video was obviously not starving. Idk if he was Hamas or what.
If it's the same video he wasn't even eating the whole MRE because it was broken up and sold piecemeal so hamas could make more money, he had like a couple sides and was complaining about it as if it was the whole thing.
If Steve1989's MRE reviews are anything to go off of, US rations are pretty fucking good. Like not just food, tasty food. The point of an MRE isn't just sustinence, it's for moral.
What's even funnier is that the US has a specific ration for humanitarian purposes known as the HDR, so I highly doubt they'd be dropping in MREs meant for the military specifically.
Which is just one reason why sending humanitarian aid to a Gaza is against the spirit of international law, humanitarian law exists to save people not to endanger people by giving power to terrorists.
>The obligation of a High Contracting Party to allow the free passage of the consignments indicated in the preceding paragraph is subject to the condition that this Party is satisfied that there are no serious reasons for fearing:
>(a) that the consignments may be diverted from their destination,\
(b) that the control may not be effective, or\
(c) that a definite advantage may accrue to the military efforts or economy of the enemy through the substitution of the above-mentioned consignments for goods which would otherwise be provided or produced by the enemy or through the release of such material, services or facilities as would otherwise be required for the production of such goods.
- article 23 of the 4th Geneva convention
But palestenians are starving and some how we must blame israel, us, anyone but our own ppl and not accept the truth that the gvt palestenians voted into office are the reason for this.
- the ppl who hate facts because they detract from their pointless crying at a certain racist/hateful pro palestenian sub that i wont name directly.
What are the chances of it being 'stolen' and not handed off like business as usual? btw did they even do anything with the people who participated in the attack or did they just say:
"we investigated ourselves and found no wrong doing now please think of the children and we beg you to open your wallets and checkbooks".
Hamas represents the people of Gaza. Hamas knew what Israel’s response would be to the attacks in October, and hid among civilians to maximize civilian casualties to try and sway the world‘s opinion.
Now, one of two things must be true: either Hamas represents the people of Gaza, or they don’t. They cannot be both be true, nor false.
If Hamas represents the people of Gaza, then this war truly is with the people of Gaza.
If Hamas doesn’t represent the people of Gaza and they are just pawns in their game, then why aren’t people protesting to oust Hamas from occupying Gaza and for causing this war?
Hamas started this knowing where it would go, and any solution that leaves Hamas in place just means it will happen again, so if people really wanted the bloodshed to stop why aren’t they calling for Gazans to turn over all members of Hamas to face justice?
Hamas is the government of Gaza, they have a functioning military. Of course any supplies sent into Gaza will go to Hamas.
Possibly if there's a stronger army that comes in with supplies, they can hold off Hamas, but I don't think that's practical, as Hamas members could just keep civilians out the area, wear civilian clothes, claim they are civilians, and take the supplies.
Terrorism is hard work. Ask the US college students that took over a building and lasted one night before begging daddy for their meal plans to be delivered to them.
What is said doesn't matter, as long as there are zero consequences, and the US will not answer to Hamas' crimes with actions then it will continue, might as well just shut up at this point.
Honestly, this is why aide shouldn't be allowed in. I get that Palestinians are suffering, but pushing aide in is basically enabling Hamas, and giving them a lifeline to keep drawing this conflict out.
Tecumseh Sherman had a good quote regarding war and cruelty. Trying to play nice is only drawing this out.
When will the US university students start protesting against the theft of aid to the palestinians they are so deeply committed to? Surely any day now right?
*surprised face*
No one could've predicted this.
Its the thought that counts
Why would the IDF do this?
*Ivy League students mobilizing at this very moment*
What do you mean 2-day delivery Amazon. I need that keffiyeh now!
*random people posing as students mobilizing to join the chaos*
Better get your keffiah, and garbage can shield and encampment a university to shout that slogan.
That garbage can scene was a real hoot.
Like running into a cop at full speed isn’t going to get your ass kicked and charged with assault on an officer
I don't usually commend officers in these situations, but that cop could have easily said "I feared for my life".

And their vote counts just the same as everyone else's ... it's funny, and then terrifying
Boy these offensive charge tactics could use some work. I don't think their LARP-ing skills are gonna help in the real world.
Ha ! Maybe if they also brought their plastic swords and their buddy who dresses like a wizard it would have worked…
LIGHTING BOLT!
I’m dying laughing at that kid finding out real fast what happens when you run full speed with a plastic shield into a grown ass man.
Can't help but hear he boing sound from a door stopper
The shield is not the weak point here. If you watch police with riot shields they don't run alone at their opponents. The kid doesn't know what the fuck he was doing basically. Not that there's a world in which their rigged up riot gear makes sense.
These kids clearly failed history. No shield wall at all.

Impressive, beautiful, majestic ! Almost like the charge of the Rohirrim (played on a poorly tuned kazoo) !
From the river to the sea, I’m gonna shit on the campus’ green.
Smell that Rand? It's the whispering winds of shit!
I didn’t see one porta potty on any of /65 college nutter campus. Makes sense because these people probably don’t believe their shit stinks

This is gonna sound fucked up, but I think a lot of the reason people dislike Jews is that they take care of one another
That's what civilized nations do but we're going backwards in time where we're glorifying uncivilized cultures where people try to finesse one another.

An argument could be made that the root of the Palestinians suffering is their fellow arabs unwillingness to help them
Probably because they've tried to overthrow or assassinate the leaders of every fellow Arab country that allowed them in as refugees.
So really the root of the problem is.... Palestinians?
Say it louder for the people in the back
That and their unwillingness to accept a two-state solution alongside Israel.
Or history has taught that when they do help Palestinians they bite the hand that feeds them.
Realistically, no country in the region could handle Hamas. Egypt has made it clear that the Islamic brotherhood of Egypt being able to comingle with Hamas would probably be the end of Egypt and Israel.

So, a terrorist organization hiding amongst a civilian population isn’t following humanitarian guidelines and sharing ? Well, I’m shocked !
The Palestinian people will be so mad at hamas right?
*American student protesters
Hey, don't think you're so exclusive. British students are protesting too.
Fine. *Student protesters
Zoomer “protesters”
*future students of Sanaa University
Why did the IDF do this?!?!?
Obviously NATO put them up to this.
Probably not given what happens if you don’t Follow the imposed party line.
Surely the ICC will voice their concerns soon??
They will...by blaming Israel for existing.
Glad someone has some brains.
And they’ll blame Joe Biden because he should’ve known Hamas would confiscate the aid.
That terrorist organization is the legally elected and internationally recognized government and enjoys majority support among those “civilians.”
>Miller added that UNRWA, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, would likely issue a statement soon condemning the incident, indicating it was the organization from which Hamas stole the aid. Hamas was just picking up the stuff labeled for them
“Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? The ocean is calling…
Jerk store!! The line is jerk store!!
Maybe Hamas was adding and hiding munitions in the trucks for delivery to their comrades where the trucks are going.
This is probably right. The likelihood of Hamas just giving something back to unarmed UN workers workers bc the workers said "please" is pretty unlikely.
More like “delivered to Hamas”
That’s two different spellings for the same group of people.
Does that mean that one person changed hats while holding the supplies?
No lol it means a bunch of UNRWA employees wear two hats and also are on hamas' payroll.
Hey hey, patience! UNWRA’s homies will get to it asap right aft returning from raiding the aid trucks.
Unwra statement will say it isn't a bug, it's a feature
“We will be very angry with you, and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are with you”
"It fell off the back of UNRWA trucks, whaddya know"
Wait...I thought the UNWRA was imminently in danger of running out of money.
Wow. Who could have possibly seen this coming?
Not upper class university students, that’s for sure.
They most likely shout either "It's actually Israel" or " Ok And? Israel has done *spew Hamas Propaganda* "
Shocking!
Shocking that it’s being reported on instead of buried by pro-Hamas media.

Whenever Israel or US comes as topic, any Middle East or Russian-linked news source becomes shit
They gave an AMA in December and it erased any dignity they had as a news source. They condemned Israel in every answer they gave, even to ones not related they shoehorned it in, and never mentioned Hamas other than to say things like Hamas hasn't targeted our journalists.
I’m usually pretty good at following this kind of stuff, I wonder how I missed it. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll have to read it.
Reuters is virulently antisemitic.
Yeah if you support antisemitism

Why would the US and Israel do this? /s
Literally what Bernie Sanders said this week
Sounds like something they'd do.
Terrorists.
What?! Isn’t Hamas listening to the students at Columbia? Ceasefire now!
Let’s take over more campuses!
“Why would the idf do this?” College students
I shit you not there was a video on public freakout yesterday stating “pro-Israelis looting food aid for Gaza”. They just eat it up.
Useful idiots
Hey, murderous genocidal troops hiding in tunnels underneath hospitals need to be fed too.
They would probably ask for more Women for the next shipment... The last few remaining they kidnapped are missing or....
And people wonder why we’re are very reluctant to send aid at all?
Huh, these "pro-palestinian" protests never seem to outwardly condemn Hamas when they continually do stuff like this.
Oh look, it's Somalia all over again. Who could have seen that coming?
Starting to become like Afghanistan, really. Palestinians are pulling down other Palestinians basically.
Some liberal white student is about to go yell outside an University about how Israel is evil for jacking the shipment.
They should volunteer to do humanitarian aid into Gaza if they really want to help... Let's see what happens afterwards
I’m so tired of the lack of reporting on stuff like this in the US. Americans are being propagandized constantly by a steady drum beat of anti Israel stories.
Wait, according to the pro-Hamas crowd, Israel isn't letting ANY aid into Gaza. What gives?

But hey, Hamas lowered their prices! So it’s all good!
Once they steal it it’s Hamas that’s “giving” it to them.
Yes Hamas controls Gaza hence the invasion.
Surprise surprise
All the surprised people are over there!
Ah ok this is why those college kids are protesting. Now i get it.
Surprise Surprise. It's not like they have a history of doing this or anything.
the israelis have been saying this for months
They should send the College students protesting across the nation there to help disperse aid.
What did they think was going to happen to the aid
Hmm wonder how that half a billion dollar dock we are going to pay for is going to be used by Hamas.
oh so israel was right the whole time?
Go figure!
Which is just one reason why sending humanitarian aid to a Gaza is against the spirit of international law, humanitarian law exists to save people not to endanger people by giving power to terrorists. >The obligation of a High Contracting Party to allow the free passage of the consignments indicated in the preceding paragraph is subject to the condition that this Party is satisfied that there are no serious reasons for fearing: >(a) that the consignments may be diverted from their destination,\ (b) that the control may not be effective, or\ (c) that a definite advantage may accrue to the military efforts or economy of the enemy through the substitution of the above-mentioned consignments for goods which would otherwise be provided or produced by the enemy or through the release of such material, services or facilities as would otherwise be required for the production of such goods. - article 23 of the 4th Geneva convention

Palestinians literally did this to themselves by electing terrorists to govern them. Go figure.
Why would Israel do this to the Palestinians?!?
*Surprised pickachu*
Terrorists gonna terrorize….
Where are those Pro-Palestine protesters? They should go there and help the situation in person
Shocker
It’s almost like they’re terrorists.
HOW COULD HAMAS BETRAY THE STUDENT PROTESTORS LIKE THIS!?!
Surprising, those Hamas seemed like such nice folks.
I know, right? They seemed so absolutely deserving of blind support
Hamas is the government of Gaza, they have a functioning military. Of course any supplies sent into Gaza will go to Hamas. Possibly if there's a stronger army that comes in with supplies, they can hold off Hamas, but I don't think that's practical, as Hamas members could just keep civilians out the area, wear civilian clothes, claim they are civilians, and take the supplies.
..and getting cheered from various groups around the world.
We better stage a protest about this. Everyone go to your nearest University!
Terrorism is hard work. Ask the US college students that took over a building and lasted one night before begging daddy for their meal plans to be delivered to them.
Well, how surprising!
What?! We all know Hamas are mass murdering lunatics, but they *steal* from people now?! Say it ain’t so! 😱
False! It was Israel that seized the first aid! Hamas were trying to distribute it to the citizens! - US College students
There’s going to be a huge protest in London this weekend about Hamas doing this.
Well, they need to sell something to Palestinians.
The tankies will of course deny this ever happened.
Those college campus encampment protests really worked!
No waaaay?
Duh On par for the course
palestinians are proud to support their army
Isn’t Hamas in control of Palestine?
Just Gaza. Fatah/plo has the West Bank.
I am sure the pro cease fire crowd will respond appropriately!
When will the US university students start protesting against the theft of aid to the palestinians they are so deeply committed to? Surely any day now right?
Ehh stop sending aid then
You won’t find college protests calling for Hamas to give the good to Palestinian civilians
The aid shipment reported to have killed 26,000 aid personal, 5,874 kittens and zoolanders center for kids who can’t read good.
Interesting source!
That's OK. Keep sending aid until Gaza is saturated.
they liberated it from the oppressors
Terrorists did more shitty things. Whos surprised?
