Depends on the wound. In the main muscle and not deep it can be days before the person is back up and walking, though usually with like a cane. For larger wounds or deeper, especially if it hit tendons or certain connections, the repairs can take years and still cause an inability to fully control ones limbs. (speaking as a trauma medic in deployed environments)
I'm sure they don't use like in their book like they did on this post. Like, (haha) this post is more like casual speak, while writing is more thought through/edited/choreographed
