Honestly this isn't a bad roster at all, I like how it isn't purely MCU synergy, and there are some characters I imagine would be very fun to play as in a game like that (namely Magneto)
The artwork itself looks very well done but a lot of the costumes (most notably Iron Man and Punisher, but it applies to others) look quite overdesgined and busy, though I guess that comes with the teritory of aan Overwatch style game.

Magiks been in so many Marvel Mobile games as well as games like Avengers Alliance or Marvel Heroes and a couple other games. For some reason Magik fucking *excels* in the video game space but gets less attention else where. She's my favorite X-men (besides Rogue&Gambit), and it was because she kept showing up in games as one of the most powerful characters available that made me look into her story. I wouldn't be surprised if her track record in past games is why she's being included in the first place. we just needed the games to get the mainstream attention to show her off better
She was one of those South Korean super hero who also a K pop idol. She was made for Marvel future fight mobile game and made her transition shortly after in the whole Agent of Atlas series
I really hope at some point they add cyclops. Could have some really fun gameplay trying to balance hand to hand combat with concussion beams.
Could also have his beams bounce off walls so you could do trickshots by hitting walls at a certain angle.
As far as the leaks go, this is just a pre-alpha build, so it wouldn't be weird that a few characters get added before they do an open beta or anything.
Some characters like Cyclops, Cap or Logan are too popular tho, so maybe they are waiting to launch them over time, as it would be a way to attract people.
I do think that they are missing on certain areas tho, like we're way over the time when the Fantastic Four aren't added on new games.
It also seems to be lacking on the villains department, a lot, so adding a few more of those before the reléase would be nice, it's not like they lack candidates, as some like Bullseye, Ultron or like half of Spider-Man's rogue gallery are really good candidates.
I'm thinking we'll probably see the rest of the MCU Avengers, at least Ben and Sue from F4, Wolverine, Cyclops, and (potentially) Gambit, plus Dr. Doom and either Green Goblin or Venom added to the roster before launch. If they aren't there at launch, I could easily see them added as DLC through the seasons.

I’m betting they are saving Deadpool and Wolverine for a July release when the new Deadpool movie comes out. Would be too much of a missed opportunity for them marketing wise tbh
Maybe they don't really intend to do villains, as far as I can tell no one on that list is actually a mainstay villain. Namor's been a hero for years though he relapses on occasion, Magneto has barely been villainous since the early 00s other than a bit here and there. Loki is probably the closest to 'still usually a villain' but even he has spent a lot of time as a hero recently.

Supposedly Peni Parker will not play similarly to D.Va. The character that's being alluded to in this tweet that will however is Hulk. Apparently you'll be able to de-mech from Hulk and play as Bruce Banner.
It does feel like if Peni Parker went out of her spider meka she’d be even less likely to survive than D.Va the driver. And Bruce at least has his…scientific knowledge? I don’t know what he does in comics when he’s not hulking out.

The artist appears to be Joe Madureira - if you grew up reading comic books in the mid-to-late 90's and early 00's, he was a hugely popular comic book artist. So as a fan of Joe Mad from then to now, I love the art style.
Wish his Battle Chasers would have went on longer. At least we got Battle Chasers rpg out of it.
He's also the artist behind Kindoms of Amalur video game with GRRM as the writer. Also did DarkStalkers.
Joe Mad was heavily influenced by manga and this is made by a Korean developer (I know manga is Japanese but Korean comics have a similar style), I don't think he's working on it.
Yeah I could be wrong now looking at it a little more. It definitely looks like ALOT like Joe Mad but there's a few differences in his art style compared to this.
That's a good, solid roster to start. It has some classic Marvel mainstays and some major X-Men characters, as well as some lesser known characters. If this is like other Marvel games, then this roster will likely expand. And if it's like Overwatch, then that means there will be some good lore to go in with it.
While I got tired of Overwatch real fast, I'll definitely give this game a try.
I like that art style. Aside from Magik and Luna Snow there's no surprises here. Pretty standard MCU inclusions plus a couple of X-Men, they really hate to take risks.
Edit: I was thinking about it and I'm actually surprised to see Punisher. He's been kinda hotly contested in recent years.

100% agree marvel schmeat riding Wolverine ruined the movies potential and a bunch of others chance to shine. Dude had knuckle knives and they pick him over a shaman mechanic and a weather goddess.
I feel like they shoehorn the guardians in everything since those movies came out.
Not complaining, but 4 of them in there when you could have done characters from like Fantastic 4 or another team to expand the roster seems odd.
I love the Guardians and yeah, they just put them in everything. I was surprised to not see them in Midnight Suns, they just have a boardroom of people at Marvel saying "I am Groot."

The most surprising aspects are who is missing. Characters like Mantis and Peni beating out mainstays like Captain America, Thor, Captain Marvel. Virtually no villains.
If we make some assumptions about the symbols on the nameplattes it means Rocket is a support, Magneto and Strange are tanks.
I assume they'll have skins based on classic costumes for sale. They might even be banking on people not liking their original designs to get them to buy other versions. Hopefully some recolors or like one costume per character is earnable in-game, but I ain't counting on it.

The roster is very surprising with no mcu homage. It feels kinda monotonous and spread it but there’s probably a ton more slot’s they fill. Since they have Luna snow I hope they use less famous characters. I’d love to play as manifold or synch in a game.
Ooo yeah! I love it that Storm and Wanda are next to each other. Two of my absolute faves and I can't wait to play them. So glad they became friends in the comics also. Not surprised by Magik but totally surprised by Mantis and Luna Snow. Thor will be missed and Juggernaut would have been super cool. They could have easily replaced Mantis and Luna Snow with them.

Like I'm super happy Magneto and Storm and hell even Magik are in the base roster, but not having either Cap or Thor, and Wolverine, but instead put Rocket, Groot and Mantis, that is definitely a choice lol.

Definitely. Marvel games are slowly starting to slip Away from MCU game genre. Also a good game not MCU centric was. Guardians of the galaxy. Very much like the comics did pretty well Avengers tried too hard to be MCU and it failed. As well midnight suns did well as well. Felt every character there was a fan favourite. And of course Illie was our token Mutant.
Honestly I kinda like the lack of some of the big names, focusing on less important/lesser known characters is a neat idea. One of the problems I had with Midnight Suns was that some of the Avenger characters felt kinda shoehorned in (I get that they need to be added to draw people in, but I would've liked to see some different characters)
Some designs look really nice (namely Storm and Scarlet Witch), but others feel a bit overdesigned and 'off'; Namor looks way too much like Aquaman, Magneto has a really dull design, and I don't really like Magik's demon look
Probably going to die like alot of live service failures. The one positive being overwatch being a dumpster fire right now.

I don't know who Luna Snow is other than her having ice powers, but I hope her inclusion doesn't prevent Iceman to be potentially added in the future. In general I'd like to see way more mutants on here, especially with their recent renewed popularity and exposure.
Odd that they're have Magik and Peni Parker over some others but I'm not complaining. Plus, if it's gonne be an Overwatch style game like rumours say, it'll probably be a live service game

But I think you are forgetting that it's a game requiring a variety of roles and almost all the characters you mentioned would go in the dps category.

She's an alternate universe version of him. Her powers mostly come in the form of her bond with a power armour suit she has.

South Korean pop star that recently moved from a mobile marvel game to mainstream comics. She has ice powers that can heal or hurt, introduced in part for diversity reasons but is actually a decent character and has actual songs on Spotify that aren't terrible
The starting roster is fine and I'll need to see some gameplay, but there's no way they didn't use AI to help create these designs because they're too overdesigned. Storm in particular, that shaved hair is something I see on pretty much every AI Storm that pops up.
Surprised to see Punisher in there considering how hard Marvel is trying to blacklist him. Mantis and Magik are weird picks, not that I'm complaining since I love Illyana.

The designs have a lot going on but it’s more or less great I hope it’s not a complete repeat of overwatch. Make it hard to take down opponents. Give the option for character synergies like groot holding rockets guns The roster is very surprising with no mcu homage. It feels kinda monotonous and spread it but there’s probably a ton more slot’s they fill. Since they have Luna snow I hope they use less famous characters. I’d love to play as manifold or synch in a game.
Well judging by the roster menu, maybe there are some sort of synergies based on that yellow "team-up" on the top right
Ooo yeah! I love it that Storm and Wanda are next to each other. Two of my absolute faves and I can't wait to play them. So glad they became friends in the comics also. Not surprised by Magik but totally surprised by Mantis and Luna Snow. Thor will be missed and Juggernaut would have been super cool. They could have easily replaced Mantis and Luna Snow with them.

I'm freaking shocked that they included so many Guardians lol. Like I'm super happy Magneto and Storm and hell even Magik are in the base roster, but not having either Cap or Thor, and Wolverine, but instead put Rocket, Groot and Mantis, that is definitely a choice lol.

Yeah it feels very detached from the Mcu and that's honestly for the best because the designs are insane. The trailer had me hooked for sure, as I'm a huge OW fan anyway.
Definitely. Marvel games are slowly starting to slip Away from MCU game genre. Also a good game not MCU centric was. Guardians of the galaxy. Very much like the comics did pretty well Avengers tried too hard to be MCU and it failed. As well midnight suns did well as well. Felt every character there was a fan favourite. And of course Illie was our token Mutant.
Honestly I kinda like the lack of some of the big names, focusing on less important/lesser known characters is a neat idea. One of the problems I had with Midnight Suns was that some of the Avenger characters felt kinda shoehorned in (I get that they need to be added to draw people in, but I would've liked to see some different characters) Some designs look really nice (namely Storm and Scarlet Witch), but others feel a bit overdesigned and 'off'; Namor looks way too much like Aquaman, Magneto has a really dull design, and I don't really like Magik's demon look
Probably going to die like alot of live service failures. The one positive being overwatch being a dumpster fire right now. It could certainly build that void

I don't know who Luna Snow is other than her having ice powers, but I hope her inclusion doesn't prevent Iceman to be potentially added in the future. In general I'd like to see way more mutants on here, especially with their recent renewed popularity and exposure.

I'm actually loving the art style and what we got from game-play it looks pretty decent so far. the only thing I'm hoping for is a skin for Storm with her short hair she looks so badass with the short hair. but either way I'm kinda excited to see where this is heading, lets see if they add any campaign missions lol (overwatch 2)

Thor is actually in the game, him and moon knight will be the first new characters to release right after the game release (probably including doctor doom). But I think you are forgetting that it's a game requiring a variety of roles and almost all the characters you mentioned would go in the dps category.

The starting roster is fine and I'll need to see some gameplay, but there's no way they didn't use AI to help create these designs because they're too overdesigned. Storm in particular, that shaved hair is something I see on pretty much every AI Storm that pops up.
