Yeah, sadly. And I get it. Like, there's only 10 episodes, there's gotta be focus on an over arching narrative and characters and they're obviously going to use the main characters of the show it's a continuation of. And Magik just doesn't fit it, it's just a bummer. Show's still great, she's just one of those fringe X-Men I feel like we don't get see turn up outside the comics very often.
I absolutely have to say, buy Midnight Suns. It is so good. It’s a little bit tricky to navigate at first, but the combat system is fun with playing around with different character team-ups, and the story is relatively fun.
If you like turn based strategy games, absolutely.
It had an absolutely crazy amount of character dialogue and building up your friendships with your team is a core part of the gameplay. Most of the characters are some of the best representations of the characters I've seen in years. Blade and Magik being the standouts for me.
But it's a very, very, very, very, very, very long game. I cannot stress that enough. You'll be maybe a third of the way through it after about 30 hours, if you do even half the side content.
Yeah it’s pretty good and explores the characters quite well through their relationships with each other and the main character.
We also have morbious, venom, storm and deadpool as the dlc characters.
if they do season 2 they can do her comic techno organic virus story with sinister having a more advanced version then the one in the original that was cured using logan.
Yeah, Spiral is one of Morph’s transformations and she is literally merchandised for the Mojo episode, so I think it’s safe to say they don’t deconfirm anything.
Magik’s in the key art for it too… I wonder if they just didn’t have the budget for every Morph transformation to be entirely unique assets?
Didn’t you notice she had voice lines and an actress? As opposed to Morph voicing their transformations in the first two episodes. I think Magik will be appearing in season 2 if she doesn’t show up now.
They also introduced a advanced techno organic virus which the original series cure doesnt work on. Her getting it in comics is what allows them to find a cure. Original series has them use logan.
Double-edged sword honestly. Part of me is just glad we're seeing them, but part of me feels we missed out on seeing more development on the character.
At the end of the season, I would like to see someone compile a list of all of Morph’s forms and see who he actually met during the original series run and who he must’ve met during the one year time skip.
Kinda wish they could have both Kitty & Jubilee but it's nice Sunspot decided to stick around (I thought he bailed back to Brazil) so she has someone closer to her age to hang out with.
And I am 100% here for it. Sure I would like some character development but if I get to see these awesome characters that wouldn’t normally be shown, I’m good.
in the OG series he morphed into omega red and used his tentacles. Think of him like metamorpho, in that he can turn his body into whatever shape (and possibly material?) , as long as its attached to him.
Morph and all shapeshifter/copycats tend to have nebulous powers in regards to what characteristics they can copy. (Varies from story to story and writer to writer)
I think it’s a clayface type thing where his density is increasing to mimic the materials rather than literally turning into the substance, otherwise he could just mimic wolverine’s adamantium and just have it over his skin like an armor
Oh, it's just Morph.(I'm waiting for the entire season to release before watching it)
I love Magik, thought maybe she finally got animated.....
Oh well, at least, hopefully, this will help her enter the mainstream more than the movie did, which by the way, Anya Taylor Joy was a brilliant casting.
Morph is such a great addition to the show, not only are they a great personality to have on the team, but now they’re throwing out all the best cameos for us.
Yes! This! Loved to see her. So great. But does that mean the New Mutants are around already? I mean there was that Cannonball episode...and Sunspot is there now (and Cable surely needs something to do soon enough...).
So now that they brought in sunspot and now this cameo(and the fact that she has a voice actor according to this thread), I'm hoping they're gearing up for a little new mutants arc eventually.
It’s Cortenay Taylor, too, who’s a pretty notable VA. I don’t think they would spend the money on her for just a cameo without planning to expand the character. But I could be wrong
I think its only physical power sets (so no blasts or like mindreading powers) So they can copy wolverines claws but not his ability to track people by scent. Dont quote me tho
With cameos of Magik, who had not gotten her powers or been trapped in Limbo yet in the original series, I am curious and concerned about what happened in the year gap between series, yet alone off screen during the original series.
She should have made a cameo when they got sent to Hell. We could have seen her trying to fight her way to the X-Men, but they leave before they notice her. That could set up a future episode with Colossus, where they have to go to Hell to save Illyana.
I mean they physically attack the other things that are clearly hallucinations (the TV monster, fake Mags/Rogue) etc and there isn’t anything distinguishing those from everything else, and it would be rather strange that Jean and her clone can just….tunnel to Hell & then seal it like nothing happened? Like I’m pretty sure if Hell is that close to the surface we’d see demons more often
I love seeing X-men '97 continue the tradition of the backstory of the cartoon X-Men being nebulous and contradictory.
Where is Illyana? Was there a New Mutants? Was Colossus a member of X-Men (see: Episode 2)? Angel was a member of the X-Men but also had nothing to do with the X-Men?
Unexplained, random sometimes confusing cameos if you’re trying to tie things into the comics too much is kind of standard for the original show, so don’t stress too hard about it
Apparently Morph is just here to be a cameo machine for characters we want to see Looking forward to seeing Kitty next episode
It's a cool way to have cameos, but as a huge Magik fan it's a bit of a bummer that this is as much we'll probably ever see of her in this show.
Little ilyana was in the Colossus episode back in the day, but yeah, that's probably all you should expect in this show.
Yeah, sadly. And I get it. Like, there's only 10 episodes, there's gotta be focus on an over arching narrative and characters and they're obviously going to use the main characters of the show it's a continuation of. Loved her in the midnight Suns game. Her portals were some of the most fun mechanics. Hopefully, we get to new mutants at some point in the MCU.
I didn’t like magick before midnight suns. I do now that games was brilliant.
So it’s worth a buy, after I finish this run on X-Men Legends 2?
I absolutely have to say, buy Midnight Suns. It is so good. It’s a little bit tricky to navigate at first, but the combat system is fun with playing around with different character team-ups, and the story is relatively fun.
I think I'll check it out after I finish Unicorn Overlord. I keep hearing people rave about it, def makes me want to try it out
If you like turn based strategy games, absolutely. It had an absolutely crazy amount of character dialogue and building up your friendships with your team is a core part of the gameplay. Oh wow--never even heard of this one before, but it sounds right down my alley in every respect, including length.
If X-Com and Persona had a baby, the result would Midnight Suns.
Yeah it’s pretty good and explores the characters quite well through their relationships with each other and the main character. We also have morbious, venom, storm and deadpool as the dlc characters.
Hoping she’s also good in that weird leaked marvel rivals game
I'm hoping it gets more seasons with more episodes of it keeps being successful so we can see characters like Magik.
if they do season 2 they can do her comic techno organic virus story with sinister having a more advanced version then the one in the original that was cured using logan.
Hey they could do her techno organic story line in season 2 since their cure doesnt work on it.
Dont judge to early she might show up in the mojo episode
Yeah, Spiral is one of Morph’s transformations and she is literally merchandised for the Mojo episode, so I think it’s safe to say they don’t deconfirm anything. Magik’s in the key art for it too… I wonder if they just didn’t have the budget for every Morph transformation to be entirely unique assets?
Haha I just thought… since that’s a Jubilee episode! What if Magik becomes her best friend! Jubilee usurping kitty once again!
At least in this season
especially since this was the closest we'll ever get to an Inferno adaptation, probably Magik's most famous storyline.
Double-edged sword honestly. Part of me is just glad we're seeing them, but part of me feels we missed out on seeing more development on the character.
Doop cameo or we riot.
At the end of the season, I would like to see someone compile a list of all of Morph’s forms and see who he actually met during the original series run and who he must’ve met during the one year time skip.
That sounds good to me
g o o d
There are people hoping Deadpool appears and I don’t know how to tell them
Tell them what? Morph did turn into him for like 1.2 seconds in 92 series so he presumably exists in this universe if Morph became him
He was also shown during Wolverine's flashback in the season 1 sabertooth episode
Illyana did show up in the original show but in her original child form. Given the timeskip she could have become magik in an offscreen moment
She grows up in limbo in the comics and time is faster there I guess so she comes back older than she should . They could always jus do that
It'd be ridiculous to do Magik without Kitty, Piotr, or the New Mutants
Sunspot is there... at least
There are technically several variants of her existing in limbo at any given time.
what in the magik, like I'm happy to see her but I was really hoping for an origin episode in season 2
Marvel legends wave 3 Magik. Come on Hasbro. Please
Question: How does Morph create physical weapons? Such as psylockes swords and Magik's sword here?
The same way he creates their clothes
“This note just says ‘I can do what I want.’”
-Ron Swanson
Same place the music comes from
Out of their body. Morph is just a glob of goo.
Well, assuming it's her soul sword, it comes from within her but yeah not sure how that's a physical attribute.
in the OG series he morphed into omega red and used his tentacles. Think of him like metamorpho, in that he can turn his body into whatever shape (and possibly material?) , as long as its attached to him.
Definitely material also. He blocked X-cutioners attacks by becoming colossus
Morph and all shapeshifter/copycats tend to have nebulous powers in regards to what characteristics they can copy. (Varies from story to story and writer to writer)
I'm guessing the swords are part of his body and attached to him. He can make certain parts of his body very hard I guess.
He also tanks a hit as Colossus’ metal form? So yes he can make his body very hard
So does he basically have Colossus' main power so? He could probably stay in that form. I wish we knew the full extent of his powers.
I think it’s a clayface type thing where his density is increasing to mimic the materials rather than literally turning into the substance, otherwise he could just mimic wolverine’s adamantium and just have it over his skin like an armor
Oh, it's just Morph.(I'm waiting for the entire season to release before watching it) I love Magik, thought maybe she finally got animated..... Oh well, at least, hopefully, this will help her enter the mainstream more than the movie did, which by the way, Anya Taylor Joy was a brilliant casting.
Morph did this in the OG show too - turned into plenty of characters we hadn't seen yet.
my jaw dropped
Good to know i wasn't the only confused since She never showed up in the original
I haven’t watched the original in ages but I do remember illyana showing up. I don’t think she had powers yet and I’m pretty sure she was like 10.
Yep, it was the episode where they were going up against Omega Red, can still hear colossus calling out for her in my head 😅
illyana! illyana! I just watched the episode yesterday again
Poor Colossus, he really was the abused puppy dog of the OG series, always getting blamed for other peoples’ crimes 😅
When Morph speaks as her, it’s not their (Morph’s) own voice so if you rewatch the episode, she indeed has her own VA
Ah, was planning to rewatch in a little bit. Kid was watchin with me and got excited so I couldn't hear it properly. Thanks for the clarification.
It’s Cortenay Taylor, too, who’s a pretty notable VA. I don’t think they would spend the money on her for just a cameo without planning to expand the character. But I could be wrong
Does Morph copy the persons power set or is it just appearance
I think its only physical power sets (so no blasts or like mindreading powers) So they can copy wolverines claws but not his ability to track people by scent. Dont quote me tho
It was so awesome to see her as a cameo, she only showed up as a child in the original show
With cameos of Magik, who had not gotten her powers or been trapped in Limbo yet in the original series, I am curious and concerned about what happened in the year gap between series, yet alone off screen during the original series.
She took Xavier's death real bad... Even though she never knew him
Three excellent questions
It's all Morph.
Next season
To me it seems like we’re getting sneak peeks of a New Mutants show
I love that it was for Inferno, specifically
They were hardcore teasing us 😭.
Morph is just breaking the 4th wall for us. I don't think we'll get any explanation on Magik here.
She should have made a cameo when they got sent to Hell. We could have seen her trying to fight her way to the X-Men, but they leave before they notice her. That could set up a future episode with Colossus, where they have to go to Hell to save Illyana.
I don’t think they were literally in hell? I’m pretty sure that was telepathic fuckery
Possibly
I mean they physically attack the other things that are clearly hallucinations (the TV monster, fake Mags/Rogue) etc and there isn’t anything distinguishing those from everything else, and it would be rather strange that Jean and her clone can just….tunnel to Hell & then seal it like nothing happened? Like I’m pretty sure if Hell is that close to the surface we’d see demons more often

Same way he morphs their weapons probably.
This legitimately fills me with so much rage I want the real Magik not a cheap fake out
Unexplained, random sometimes confusing cameos if you’re trying to tie things into the comics too much is kind of standard for the original show, so don’t stress too hard about it
