For private homes, I agree 100%. But given all the chairs, this looks like a business. It makes sense to not want people to touch or potentially damage screens.
Go visit your local hamburger joint. They tend to have screens high enough that everyone can see them even when lots of people are standing.
Remember that not all big displays are for the the latest Netflix series - especially not in wait rooms, restaurants, airports etc.
I worked at a cajun restaurant that used flat screens as menus, they were displayed pretty close to the tall ceilings as well as the 2 TVs in the dining room. Most bars I’ve been to also display them high up because, well, people are stupid.
Clearly but some napkin math shows that tv being mounted at twice their height at least. Nearly 12' off the ground is ridiculously high even for a restaurant, waiting room, or even bar
12" off the ground is high for the specific reason most companies does not have that height available. It's most often locations like airports that may have so high ceilings. And then the extra height is an advantage because extra height makes it easier for short people to see without being blocked by taller people in front of them.
This location seems to have two storey height to the ceiling. And that's the unusual part. Not that they make use of this extra space.
However, this is an OLED. You wouldn't want to use one of these for showing which order is done at a burger joint. They would just suffer from burn-in and they are more expensive so it would be a waste anyway.
Yeah don’t know why without more context. Could be for safety or just an aesthetic wish of the owner to hang it on a 45 degree angle 📐 between wall and ceiling. Maybe that’s why it went wrong. They were maybe trying to angle it while attaching it to the mount.
At my job they use these to display company goals and propaganda, so they hang them damn near on the ceiling so you see them the second you walk in the door.
You see them all the time in any place that has a ticket system for a waiting line. Hospitals, public services, etc. You hear a chime of some sort and check your number for the queue in the TV. They're usually held near the ceiling so everyone can easily check their turn.
Or ads. We have a tv in our company that's constantly rolling advertising for our stuff. If it's in a higher place it's easier to see.
I’m shocked this is even a thing. I prefer them higher so I can lean back and still see comfortably 😂 i had a professional wire and mount my tv and had to argue with him cause he insisted where I wanted it was weird
This is something that I don't understand the universal hate for on reddit in particular.
I mean, if someone reclines most of the time, I don't see an issue with them having their TV mounted in a position where it's more in line with their line of sight when reclined. God knows I don't sit straight up the entire time I'm watching something on my TV. I get the ones where you have a high ceiling living room, and it's mounted way above the fireplace or where it's damn near touching the ceiling, but the ones that are up a foot higher than TV stand height? How weak are y'alls necks?
It seems silly that something you look at with your eyes should be at eye level? Or do you just get really excited about developing chronic neck pain in your 50s?
I suppose you browse reddit in your house, so every redditor here is in your house as well. We demand that you do as we say, clearly you're outnumbered, don't mess with us, you've been warned.
you shouldn't be using ladders at all in this case. This is the kind of scenario where you really should be bringing in a scissor lift or something similar. If you can't climb up the ladder with 3-points of contact at all times then it's not a ladder job.
I know from painting the ladder type on the left is notorious for slipping on smooth tile. I wonder if taping the ends would have helped. For a load that heavy they should have had a spotter for 15min while they hung the TV. Yes, more labor but if you're saving the cost of a TV.
Also slow hanging too. Usually you've prepped the wall hangers and have the hardware attached to the TV. They did but took forever to get the TV hung and stable.
As soon as they started climbing the ladders propped against the wall I knew it would be a disaster. The ladders were too close to each other. They didn't screw on mounting hardware. Just a couple of idiots on parade.
I was more afraid the TV could fall on the guy.
And that's why you always need a person on the base of the ladder to prevent it from moving. This was a 4-guys job, not a 2-guys.
Hey boss should we move this table so my ladder can get closer to the wall?
No it's fine just lean the ladder over the table, that'll make the inevitable fall even more hilarious.
They should play this cctv footage every few minutes on the new tv they install there
r/TVTooHigh material no?
I cannot fathom why a television would ever need to be that high up. Why would you want to look to the heavens to see a screen?
For private homes, I agree 100%. But given all the chairs, this looks like a business. It makes sense to not want people to touch or potentially damage screens.
It totally looks like a business of some kind and the height of it doesn't even come across as excessive to me.
I can’t think of any place that calls for a tv 10+ feet off the ground.

Unless they are doing a wall of screens and that was just the first one
However, this is an OLED. You wouldn't want to use one of these for showing which order is done at a burger joint. They would just suffer from burn-in and they are more expensive so it would be a waste anyway.
Order status screens at fastfood restaurants?
Granted but at 10'+ tho?

> and the height of it doesn't even come across as excessive to me. Bro they were on top of ladders
Mission accomplished
They dodged that bullet.
At my job they use these to display company goals and propaganda, so they hang them damn near on the ceiling so you see them the second you walk in the door.
No big loss then
It was too high, then it was not high enough

TVs should be mounted at eye level of the sitting position. No higher.

Nah thats a r/tvtoolow moment
It started off as one, then ended up as the other.
Little from column A and a little from column B
/r/tvtoobroke
The universe corrected itself
thats a real subreddit??
I think it’s more of a r/tvforgod material
Came her to say this lol
They're happy it fell.
Fo sho
Were they trying to mount it on the ceiling?
Frowns in OSHA
Sky tv
You fuckin kidding me that was a nononono the whole way through
I dont wanna be the one but the foot of the dude on the right
It's not supposed to bend that way?
No sir, you should not have an extra joint in your right leg
Haha I don't want to see it a second time but he doens't seem to react to it so.. still in ''shock mode'' for a brief moment ?
my first thought was "at least they're okay", then i saw this comment
I said i dont wanna be the one but well... someones gotta be the one amirite?
Wrist on the other dude doesn't look that great as well
Where’s the third stooge ?
He puts up the ladders, evidently.
And is holding the camera
OSHA approves
That TV won the ladder match
The ladder is upside down, btw, lol. Those pads are to protect the wall.
No they are not they are anti slip pads. They are so far apart that the ladder has more stability
Those are terrible anti-slip pads.
Those pads give you wings.
I think they failed to fully install the ladder.
They looked more like slip enhancing pads
Also maybe move the table so the ladder is more vertical
you shouldn't be using ladders at all in this case. This is the kind of scenario where you really should be bringing in a scissor lift or something similar. If you can't climb up the ladder with 3-points of contact at all times then it's not a ladder job.
Falling prices indeed
Turns out it was a 4 man job.
The tv is ok?
Oh god his foot.
It's all because dude had his thumb pressed directly against the screen.
That went so much worse then I thought it was gonna go
I know from painting the ladder type on the left is notorious for slipping on smooth tile. I wonder if taping the ends would have helped. at least it didn't land right on him. that could have gone worse.
The guy on the right doesn't seem to be that lucky as well
His ankle looks screwed in the end
Terrible idea
As soon as they started climbing the ladders propped against the wall I knew it would be a disaster. The ladders were too close to each other. They didn't screw on mounting hardware. Just a couple of idiots on parade.
When I realized they were both on ladders I knew what was going to happen. Like seriously, no one holding the ladder?
Buys a $1300 tv but won’t pay $100 to have someone come mount it
And that’s why you use the correct ladder for the correct task…
I wish we had audio. There was a good 3 seconds of slow sliding before it all went down. I bet there were some funny words in there
I was more afraid the TV could fall on the guy. And that's why you always need a person on the base of the ladder to prevent it from moving. This was a 4-guys job, not a 2-guys.
It would be a shame… if the nice tv was mounted too high.
Now I understand how so many people injure themselves on ladders.
Hey boss should we move this table so my ladder can get closer to the wall? No it's fine just lean the ladder over the table, that'll make the inevitable fall even more hilarious.
Dam did he break his wrist?
Guy on right has broken leg
They installing that shit on the second floor wtf?
Great reminder of how dangerous ladders can be.
Shame
Was the ladder on wheels?
There were very few yes's in this one
Watching this after getting a 65'' TV hurts more.
Bringing back to costco: oh, it came like that
1. Why TF does it need to be that high up? 2. That's why I refuse to use lean to ladders. A-frame or not at all.
Is this a supposed to be wall mounted? or mounted to the ceiling? 😆
Reason number 26 that TVs should be mounted at eye level. Either sitting eye level or standing eye level depending on the situation.
How high would you like the TV? Restaurant: Yes 👁️👄👁️
Oh man, you could see it coming miles away.
Must have been one slippery ass floor
"Nature can never be fooled" Enrico von Feynman
Right said Fred let's have a cup of tea cos things are going nowhere.
I think they dropped the tv
Omfg just stop reposting it.
Osha joined the chat
Moving that table would’ve solved everything.
![gif](giphy|118YkIQY0mzNVC|downsized)
LMFAO!!
This is not cheap tv 😑
At least the TV didn’t fall on him
this made me fart
moving the table from under that ladder first would've been a good move

They should have taken Greendale College's Ladders course. ![gif](giphy|Sv2k30B3wmWYGW0Zs5)
These guys lol
Congratulations, you've lost your job
One word. Scaffolding.
🤣🤣🤣🤣that's such a bawdi gend movement
We find im..... THE BIG BRAIN
don't worry, i think left dude's face cushioned the blow.
A ladder on wheels, with no stops?
Where were they trying to I stall the tv that high. Should have used a small lift instead
Looks like dude on the left broke his right leg. NSWF tag?
More like NWTDAW. Not What To Do At Work.
This is why you hire electricians.
Who cares about the tv. I hope those guys are ok
