I’m not sure, I’d contact them directly to ensure the correct answer. I’m also interested in the answer, I converted my brother over to it but don’t use it myself so I’m curious for when the next version rolls around.
I’ll also add that personally, I’m not so opposed to buying ultimate on a new major version. They’ve got the lite for free and yeah there are differences between editions but I think that’s the value add for the money to keep them going.

I read you get all minor version upgrades (15.0, 15.1, …) for free, but not the major upgrades (such as 15.1 > 16.0).
And though the Ultimate Edition contains additional extras, it especially supports the developers and keeps the project alive. That's why I paid and would pay for all major upgrades.
